LBT-1562A CT: Why so expensive?
« on: March 28, 2008, 09:32:27 AM »
Was looking around and came across these packs:

PDF:

http://www.londonbridgetrading.com/m1we ... ntID=11657

They look similar to the Maxpediton pack I bought from Tim (which is awesome) a few years back.

These things are like 4 times as much.

Thought maybe some of you true mil guys (Christian?) could shed some light on why they are so expensive....maybe even someone like David who makes gear?

Is it the amount of webbing and pockets inside?  This think look like it can hold litres of IV fluid or something.

Thanks.

Benn

There are a few factors that affect the high cost of those packs.

1) It's LBT, they don't give a shit about onesy twoseys from individual dudes, mil dudes buy in bulk and don't ask what it costs.

2) The costs of nylon goods have gone up all around, nylon is a petrolium based material.

3) Good backpacks take a long time to make, every time I sit down to do one, I forget that it is almost double the time of making an armor carrier. Good packs around the $150 mark take much more time than a vest I can sell for $200+.

I will say this,  anything that is purpose built for medical care increases cost due to liability.  It unfortunately opens the company building it to be named in any law suit involving a provider using their equipment.  Even though the equipment is an inanimate object the provider being sued was using it, be it a band aid, bag, or more advanced device.

That pack has alot of extra internal pockets for medic items.  It is not simply an everyday backpack.

LBT is expensive, yes, but that is the main reason that EXACT bag costs so much.

If you have your heart set on that bag, I can check on a better price for you.
