LC4 squad assignments and special positions
« on: February 13, 2005, 09:53:05 AM »
OK guys pre-registrtion is pretty much taken care of.

We have the following personel assigned to Recon teams.

Hector - Raven1 "team leader"
Christian - AZSarge

Mark - StoneEagleWolf "team leader"
Dave - Gixser13

I need two volunteers to be RTO's for the Lt and myself.  Good communications skills and the ability to stick by our sides and not run off into a fire fight is needed.

If anyone is not happy with their assignment or has a suggestion please let me know now and not at the game.

Thanks,

I know this may sound stupid, but what is an RTO? I would be kinda interested in something along the lines of a personnel security detail for officer(s)if something is available.

Radio Telephone Operator, or our personal radiomen.  Ever watch the war movies where the commanding officers have a radio man by thier side during battle?

Yeah John alright..I always hear from people that at LC theres not much fighting so its hard to know what I want to do there. What kind of equipment would we need for the RTO slots? How much if any fighting would we be doing?

The RTO needs  radio and a good head set so he/she can hear what command is saying clearly.  The radiomen are the links between the platoon leader, platoon sgt and squad leaders.  It's an important role and that's why we need people who can do the job well.  The radiomen will get trigger time for sure, but their primary role is communications as well as watching their commanders backs, so a little security is involved as well.

At times I had to be an RTO in a Marine unit in the real world.  It sorta sucked.  My hat is off to anyone who willing to volunteer for the job.  Even if it is only airsoft, heheh.

Being the organizer of many games, I usually have two radios on my body to help coordinate the action between two skirmishing teams.  Its requires a lot of attention to detail when running two radios.  At these big ops it even harder because there is usually much more radio traffic and its all important.  At Operation: Restore Order I ran two radios for this purpose and it was crazy trying to keep up with all the traffic as well as trying to fight my way out of insane situations.  Not all the traffic will conern you, but when you hear your name called out on one radio while the other is booming away in the opposite ear you better be able to catch it because you know some serious shtuff is going down!  Having an RTO (in the airsoft world) running only one dedicated radio for this task makes the commanders job sooo much easier.

No one.. we did the coms ourselves and having an RTO would make a big difference when trying to work with two squads at once.  The Lt is going to be running two and I'll be running the other two.
