Accessories & Gear / Molding kydex to an airsoft pistol?
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:58:08 AM »
Does anyone here have experience with molding kydex to an airsoft pistol? I have concerns about airsoft plastics (heck, even the metals) getting warped or distorted by the heat of the kydex and the pressure of the press.

Looking around for a used "Solo" monocular by Vortex. There are several variations, but at this moment I'm not picky about which one.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Go to Starbucks on Valentine's day
« on: January 31, 2012, 08:19:26 AM »
To everyone who loves guns, both airsoft and real steel, please give starbucks your business on Valentine's day. An anti-gun group is planning a boycott of starbucks because of their pro firearm stance. The counter protest will be stronger, but we need to get the word out (there is a FB page for this event).

So on Valentine's day, just go to your local Starbucks, give them your business, thank the manager for their upholding their corporate policy, and if you're feeling really patriotic, pay with $2 bills (to symbolize the second amendment)

1. Can someone tell me why there is another set of tamiya plugs in the middle of my wire harness (as opposed to the first set that normally connects the battery to the wire harness) of my KWA SR12?

2. Would it make more sense to replace those tamiya plugs with another set of deans plugs, or to just solder the wires together?

I'm writing this to tell everyone about my extremely positive experience with "Crazy Cromag's Airsoft Emporium", crazycromags.com, about a week ago. They are based in Indiana.

TL; DR: Crazy Cromag's is solid on customer satisfaction and fast shipping. 5/5 for this retailer.

Details:

After hunting for an SR12 for many months and being jerked around by two other (larger) retailers, I had given up hope on ever finding an SR12 before Christmas. I learned about CCAE from the KWA forums, got in contact with the owner through several emails (which were answered very promptly), and ordered an SR12, which shipped that very same day.

And there's more good to comment on: KWA has long since discontinued the practice of including low profile, flip up, adjustable iron sights with the SR12. I had actually accepted this sad fact after contacting the other retailers and confirming with them.

But out of habit, I asked, and Crazy Cromag said that they had one SR12 in inventory that had the older, flip up irons. I asked if I could somehow reserve it before I ordered, since I was still at work. I also asked if I could cancel the order for a full refund if somehow I did not get that unit when I ordered. They answered yes to all my questions, and the owner of Crazy Cromag personally pulled that SR12 out of inventory to set it aside for me, on the spot. There was no additional charge.

The owner also emailed me to confirm that he shipped out the specific unit I requested. After 6 painfully long days of waiting  :P it got delivered to my doorstep, and no more than an hour after that, the owner called me to check and make sure I was satisfied.

Disclaimer: Crazy Cromags didn't know of me or what my level of proficiency with airsoft is. I have no doubt that they treat every customer as awesomely as me, and they didn't offer any compensation for this review, and I am 100% independent in my recommendation.

Many thanks to Tim McGuin (USN Veteran), owner of CCAE.

Airsoft Items WANTED / wtb tacforce horizontal holster
« on: October 31, 2011, 09:08:51 AM »
Looking for the TacForce style horizontal holster (the PALS webbing orients the pistol sideways). Can't find it in stock anywhere (might be discontinued). Other options are way too expensive and unnecessary. Any color will do, but I'd prefer OD / Tan first.

AEG's / What's the level of risk with fake deans plugs?
« on: October 10, 2011, 01:44:07 PM »
I got a LiPo battery with female deans plugs pre-installed from Elite Airsoft Batteries. I also got a separate pair of deans male plugs to solder onto the gun. I just saw an old post that said EAB uses fake deans, and I'm really upset now.

My question is, HOW MUCH of a risk am I taking if I run a stock KWA sr12 with a 7.4v 2S LiPo battery with possible fake deans plugs on both the battery and motor?

EDIT: Can someone suggest an honest supplier that sells real Deans plugs? I see so many fakes and fraud alerts when I search for them.

UPDATE: Through research and contact with Mike F. at EAB, I am now inclined to believe that I may have received authentic deans plugs. The packaging for the plugs is labeled all over with WSdeans contact info, and by comparison to some un marked plugs, the quality of materials is higher.

I have a multimeter, can someone tell me what sort of test I should run and what numerical values I can look for to validate that these are real deans plugs? I'd love to retract my previous skepticism if it turns out these are real Deans plugs.

Local Games Listing/RSVP / Lost item from Rebel Union Day op on Aug 29
« on: September 01, 2009, 05:02:27 PM »
I have been given permission to make this lost and found thread by AZSarge, and when the issue is resolved I will gladly ask to have it deleted. On the morning of the Rebel Union day op on Aug 29, my friend Manuel and I hitched a ride with a squad of other players at the rally point in their black truck. These other players were wearing a kind of digital / ACU camo . These people left the game early around 11:00 or 11:30 and like an idiot, I unknowingly left my glasses in a white plastic bag in the flatbed of their truck.

If any of the 4 men from that truck would be so kind as to reply to this post or even pm or call me just so I know your name(s) and so that I can verify if my glasses are still in their possession it'd be greatly appreciated. If you don't recall who I am, I was the guy with the L96 sniper rifle with the reflection hider in the scope, and one of you guys in the truck (I think Marco was his name?) also tried out my friend Manuel's sniper rifle.

Also, if anyone knows a Marco, could they direct him to this thread or have him call me? (I've considered the possibility that these people might not be active on AA)

If I have to, I will offer a reward for the return of my glasses.

Site Suggestions / suggestion: Lost and Found thread
« on: August 30, 2009, 02:11:40 PM »
Having lost my glasses in the back of the truck of someone who left a game early, I now think we should have a lost and found thread for goods and other items left behind after games and other events.
