It's possible that it came with the EG700 motor.  There's nothing wrong with that motor either.  Acutally an EG700 motor will give you a higher rate of fire since it has more torque than an EG1000.  It will also drain your battery faster, but not enough to worry about.

Cool, thanks for the info.  I read some old posts on the difference between the EG700 & EG1000 and the EG700 sounds best for me.

Stock TM M4A1 w/ EG700 Motor?

Hi,
Back in 1999 I bought my TM M4 second hand.  It was stock and has worked perfectly for me since I got it; just normal maintenance required.
I recently upgraded to a m100 spring and metal bushings, so it was my first time taking the gearbox out/apart.  Upon doing so, I found out that I had a EG700 motor inside.  
I thought the TM M4 came with an EG1000.  Did the earlier models come with an EG700?  Or is it possible the previous owner from years ago switched it out?
Gun still works great, just curious is all....
