Echo 1 M28 bolting and firing issue
« on: June 06, 2011, 08:13:55 PM »
So I'm adjusting the scope and hop up on my Echo 1 M28. After I have put maybe 50 rounds through it, I try to shoot again. I pull the bolt back, and try to push it forward. When I do, it shoots. I have no idea what is wrong. I was going to take it to gearbox, but I thought i would ask in case there is a simple solution. Thanks for the help

The piston or trigger sear could be worn out, you will probably need to replace them

Thanks. The only thing I'm wondering is, how did that happen so quick?

Did you upgrade the spring to shoot harder?

Nope. Then the other day, my friend bolts it and shoots it so it was working fine again. Then after about 3 more shots it stopped working again.

because they are piles of crap and this has happened to several m28s, i've seen 3 break all in the same time span. Not to mention them breaking with in 100 rounds. my theory is that since this is gen 1 they are still working out the bugs.

In sniper rifles this is known as 'slam firing'. Open up the bolt and look for irregular wear on the piston. Most likely your piston has simply been worn down so much it can't handle the stress any longer. If your sears were the problem it wouldn't even lock back although I'd recommend replacing them with a steel set any way (it takes VSR style). The hop up unit is also VSR style.

Here is a link to upgrade parts for the M28 and no the color of the pistons is irrelevant unless you're creating two seperate bolts for two different fps setups which makes the colored piston a helpful spot check: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalogsearc ... +&x=10&y=8

The m28 is NOT crap, its just a plastic piston in a sniper rifle and pot metal sears can only take so much stress. Beyond the sears, piston, and spring guide, there is nothing I'd personally consider replacing on the gun. (I know people have troubles with the magazines, but this is because of them not aligning the body screws correctly).

Hope that helped?

P.S. Damn! Those full cylinder setups are CHEAP!
