Pistol and Holster Safety
« on: August 09, 2012, 09:48:08 PM »
Hey guys, I absolutely love using pistols. Whenever I get the chance, I try and use my socom gbb 1911. I have spent the time on how to hold it and shoot it(have used what I learned on a real springfield 1911 .45). And I notice as I buy airsoft guns, people(mainly kids) dont know how to properly treat, hold, or respect their guns.  So I just wanted everyone to see these videos and learn and put to use what is good.

Feel free to add any info or more pistol and gun safety. Also any techniques on how to hold, use, and maneuver would be good too.

Thanks guys and enjoy!

Please call them weapons. Gun sounds so negative. They're Pistols, Rifles, Magazines (rifles) and Clips (pistols).

I think weapon sounds more negative than a gun, weapon sounds more of a crude killing business than a more life saving and country defending business. Just my opinion anyway, well so what do you think of the videos? Any more advice on more pistols, rifles, etc...?

Kid mistreats his gun = breaks it = us techs get paid
Of course, this applies more to Airsoft, not real steel...

In the Army we were not aloud to call anything a "gun". They were weapons and I defended my country, and saved lives :P
I'll make a list :/

On the nomenclature for guns; guns are weapons, but not all weapons are guns. A weapon could be an RPG, an AK-74, a sword, a fist, or a ballpoint pen, however, a gun (or firearm, if you don't like the term gun) is a specific type of weapon.  It is kind of like seeing a cat and calling it an animal.  There are ways you could be more specific as to what type of animal, but it is correct to call it one lol.

Saw this and wanted to add something. Those who use leather holsters, check to make sure the area on the holster that covers the trigger guard isn't bent in. This wear can cause an AD- in airsoft a welt on your thigh. With a real gun... A hole in your junk, leg, or ass.

There's really only two things that make airsoft related to the Real World of combat. Pistol engagement distance and range safety.
The videos are very good. If anyone would like to read up about gunfighting and safety, I recommend The Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry by Massad Ayoob.
