1) Using a sling may indeed increase barrel wobble, but you can combat this in a few different ways.  Mainly, keep all the screws tight and clean.  A metal body and/or reinforced 1 piece barrel can't hurt either.  I think any increased strain on a weapon due to a sling is worth it because of the things you avoid by using the sling; ie Having to set down your weapon, dropping it, etc.

2) Wargameclub uses frames.  If your going to link to something on there, open it in a new browser window to see the correct URL.

3) There are laser pointers that will work during the day, but you're looking at a lot more $.  I don't feel laser pointers are useful enough in airsoft to necessitate carrying around.  Day or night.

Roger all of the above, except to add that lasers are pointless (no pun intented) in airsoft.  Nothing shoots a BB accurately enough to utilize a laser.  Scopes can be handy for spotting, but you have th eright idea there.  Low, fixed power sights or red dots (my preference) are great for airsoft use.

Sorry for bad link, here is the one I was talking about: http://www.wargameclub.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=OT-SC-4X30_cat_Scopes

Its a 4x30 which is what I want, it looks good (though it says actual product difference from picture, how different will it be?), and best of all its cheap.  Im just wondering if anyone knows of any problems with it and if I can mount it with the TM m4 high mount.

I'd say check locally first.  Places like Wal-Mart and Sports Authority.  Unless you want that particular scope exactly, a 4x30 scope isn't hard to find.  You may even find that particular scope.  Likely it'll be either less expensive here, or at least you'll not have to pay shipping charges.

These are also good places for such things.

BSA redo dots are excellent!  under $30 at Wal-Mart.  They are not a replica of anything in US service, but they function perfectly, and have 11 brightness settings.  Yu'll need a riser mount though. check www.militaryphotos.net for pics of real guys, and real guns, pick one you like, and replicate it if you so desire.  Keep in mind everything is a matter of personal preference!  You will go through alot of gear and accessories before you find something you like.

I would check on eBay for a "Colt" replica 3 or 4 power AR/M16 syle scope.  you can find them for $25 to $35 all the time and you won't pay the high shipping costs that you would if it were coming from Japan.  I use a 3X20 replica on my M4 and it comes in very handy for spotting instead of carrying a pair of binoculars.  Don't go over 4 power though, it's a waste of money for an airsoft gun.

Thanks for the replies.  I went to Sports Authority the other day and they had a pretty small selection, nothing that caught my eye.  Ill give Wallmart a try tomorrow and maybe Laradas if I wake up early enough to drive down there.  And I also found another cheap 4x30 on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3623560913&category=31714#ebayphotohosting).

Anyone know if Ill be able to mount either of these scopes I linked to on a TM M4 High Mount or do i need to get those scope rings? I really  like the look of that TM mount and the fact that its only 1 piece.

And as for slings, are there any slings that are designed specifically for Colt guns? I couldnt find any slings that would fit on my sling mount at Sports Authority. Any recommendations for slings?  I want something that is comfortable and simple (i heard the 3 points are kinda complicated). And I would prefer one without that weird looking cammoed pad that Im seeing on a lot of slings.

As for lasers, I really only want it for cosmetic looks, not skirmishing.  But I still want one that will function for messing around, and be visible during the day.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice, I know you guys get sick of dealing with the newbs lol.

You need to know if the Mauri mount is for 1 inch or 30mm scope tubes.  I would imagine it's for 1 inch.

The Marui Hi-Mount can accomodate both 30mm and 1".  It comes with a spacer.

Scopes, Slings, and more newb ?'s
« Reply #9 on: August 23, 2003, 11:22:07 AM »
Ok I just got my first AEG (TM M4A1) and Ive been doing a lot of research on accessories the last few days but I still have a few unanswered questions...

1. Slings: I realized its not good to sit the gun in the dirt every time i need 2 hands so I figured Id get a sling.  But Ive read that slings really increase the barrel wobble.  Can anyone confirm this?

2.  Scopes:  Ive read just about everything on red dots and normal scopes and I decided to get a low fixed power scope (similar to ACOG in function) and I found this at WGC: http://www.wargameclub.com/WGC_Shop/.  The problem is I cant find any info on it at all.  Anyone know anything about it? Also can I mount it with the Marui High Mount?

3.  Laser Pointers:  From what Ive read almost all lasers are too weak to be seen except for in the morning or evening light.  Are there any high quality lasers that I could use all day?
