FPS restrictions
« on: February 14, 2010, 08:03:34 PM »
Any games here allow rifles above 450fps?  I understand some younger players might not have the pain threshold older players do, and some older players might not have the impulse control others do and get a little testy about a well placed contact shot, but most of the games i've seen pretty much out me since all of my rifles close to 500 fps.  Yes i like laying in wait for a shot to present itself, and engaging targets from as much stand off distance as possible,  are there any games that allow that style of engaging?

Define rifle. Most games will allow a DMR or single shot weapon up to 500fps. And bolt action systems up to 600fps. Most have a minimum engagement distance of 75-100ft.

Yepp, what Busta said is pretty much true.

Tucson Airsoft Coalition's games are all Semi-only and bolt action are allowed up to 617fps, for example. The same limits apply to all MHA games.

500fps full auto is just ridiculous though. I have a hard time believing you'll find too many people that think otherwise.

Most organizers allow higher FPS limit for single shot rifles intended for use as a "sniper rifle".  A minimum egagement distance almost always applies.

I use the term sniper rifle loosely - its airsoft afterall.

I understand the loose interpretation....but good camo, use of terrain, patience, and use of training can make airsoft a good parallel,  until a few years ago i always thought of airsoft as a bunch of guys that wish they could've done actual combat or been in the military...but after the warrior transition program, its really more of a therapy for a lot us, including me.
