Helmet of choice
« on: December 27, 2010, 07:02:56 AM »
I'm looking into purchasing a helmet and was wondering what the best/most reasonable place to obtain one is. I'm going for a more round/modern look. The link below leads to a picture of a helmet that would be ideal

Get a MICH 200 replica or the real thing. I think you can get the replicas at airsoftextreme.com

Go to a surplus store and get the real thing. The current issue is the ACH (Advanced Combat Helmet). The thing in your picture looks like a British or Aussie helmet by the shape.

Are you going for a particular look?
I'd say any MICH replica would work fine. I like the 2001's.
You could also use a Protec ACE. Those you can pickup at any sporting equipment store.
Spray paint it and you're good to go.
There's also the IBH replica's out there too. Those look kind of cool.

I'm using a PASGT Helmet with a woodland camo cover for it right now, and I love it.  Although if a BB hits it in the right spot it can be pretty loud. Fits my Headset and Goggles with no problems, and is comfortable, I don't even realize it's there till a BB hits it.

There was one case (granted I'm new to the sport) that I'm glad I had it, (any helmet, not necessarily PASGT) as it took several hits all in a short period where I got caught in the middle of a firefight between 4 people. That was alot of fun!

From what I've found though, there are a lot more helmet covers available for PASGT then MICH.  But maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. (I didn't want to paint mine, and this way I can use same helmet for any camo setup)

I use an OE Tech MICH. It's very confy and lightweight. Do not get a real steel helmet!!! The r pretty heavy and they r super expensive! My step father let me us his until he retired and had to return it. There isn't point for that extra weight/cost ($100+) since there aren't 7.62 rounds and grenade/rpg fragments flying past ur head.

AroUnd $30-$40. Pretty much every major airsoft online retailer(Airsoft GI, Evike, ect.) sells them. I believe that there are a few @ Gearbox and APD as well.
