Local Games Listing/RSVP / Re: Prescottonia 7-26-2014
« on: June 24, 2014, 07:06:15 PM »
I'll agree that MC usually unbalances things. Almost everyone who's into airsoft is going to be into real steel, and you're going to get overlap with gear decisions between the two.

The purpose of MC is to blend, hence why it looks green / tan at different ranges; and I realize that this is a game, not real training.

May I politely propose that those who are in MC be divided (but keeping friends grouped together), so that we even things out? We can then assign half to tan and half to green and identify all with tape.  We used to do that in the old days; "wear whatever color you want, we will assign colored arm bands, red vs blue", or pick two colors.

For those who are super irritated about colors sticking out, there is also the combination of one team with the common white-ish / tan masking tape, and the one team without. The way we did it, the bands were large enough on your arms and barrel such that it'd be easy to identify that person either way: Obvious bands? He's on the banded team.
Obviously no bands? He's on the non banded team.

I'm in Utah ATM but I'd love to come down for that weekend for this game. The first Prescottonia was and is still my favorite game ever.

May have to do mt. Ord?

If we're doing a summer game, I'd prefer it to be up north and cooler, but if Prescott won't have us, then I guess there's no choice. Last time I went, Mt. Ord was pretty toasty. And that was back in May

Count me in for green.

As stated earlier above, that picture makes the feeling of loss so much more intense. Rest In Peace, Ron. No longer in pain, I hope you are at peace, where ever you are.

I did some research for you guys to solve any further questions on the legality of this field
Here is proof the field is indeed on BLM land and legal to play on.

Ah yes, I remember seeing that map before. Great how things worked out, it's not really far at all from the original Hatfield AO lol!

Hi, it's been a while since I played at any sort of Hatfield AO. (good times, btw). Am I correct in assuming that the legal issues with playing at "hatfield" have been resolved?

As I recall, there was an issue (like maybe a year ago) where the games were actually taking place on State trust land, and we needed to be on BLM land in order to be compliant. Can someone please confirm for me that this AO is in fact, legal?

Gas Powered Guns / Re: Gas Snipers
« on: July 16, 2012, 07:41:53 AM »
As stated above, the main, superficial difference is the obvious gap in the bolt pull-weights.

Unless you're not willing to learn good form in cycling a spring powered rifle, the choice between the two is up to you. Every type of gun (electric / gas / spring) can have a malfunction that takes you out of the game, but the fact is, manually operated spring powered BASR's ,or, "boltys", have the best record of reliability and consistency.

To give credit where it is due, there are gas powered weapon systems that can be just as quiet and consistent as a spring powered one. But then you have to factor in the need for two consumables in your loadout, the gas, & the ammo.

Accessories & Gear / Re: holster questions

I also recommend the serpa / STRIKE plate high chest mount option. It evenly distributes the weight of the pistol on the shoulder straps of your vest rather than your belt. It is also the least-in-the-way of things, but be careful when drawing / holstering your weapon: your muzzle discipline is going to be put to the test.

Also, as a bonus, it's easier to get to your sidearm if you're prone, since your hands will already be close to your upper torso while you're on the ground.

Chest mounted pistol rocks. The only other downside is that sometimes the handle of the sidearm can impede reaching one of your primary magazines (if you have large primary mags, it can even interfere with their placement). Sometimes this can be mitigated by canting the pistol so that its handle rests higher, but I personally prefer to have the weapon flat and level.

Spring Power!! / Re: What Do You Prefer?
« on: June 17, 2012, 04:45:19 PM »
I prefer my manually operated, spring powered sniper rifle.

I am a very patient sniper, and I enjoy stalking and taking silent shots. I just got back from an epic game in the forests, and my rifle performed 10/10 ( not to say that my personal performance was 100%).  Not boasting or bragging, I just love sneaking / surprising.

To give credit where it is due, I've actually seen and used a few gas operated sniper weapon systems that were VERY quite, if not just as quite as a spring operated BASR. But, manually operated BASR's won't run out of gas, nor will they experience an inconsistency due to decline in pressure.

My team is here now, is the orange tape already up, we don't see it. Can you be more specific?

just because the guns come from china, japan, korea, doesnt make anyone that uses one a ninja.

:P ^This..... I mean, NEWS FLASH: ninjas blend in. Means dressing like everyone else, not standing out ::)

Alright. This should be fun. Anticipation could kill me.

EDIT TO RULES READ ORIGINAL POST

Rules Updated. SNIPERS WILL BE KEY IN THIS GAME. ( WILL NEED RADIO COMMUNICATION )

Are you saying that snipers are needed for the scenario, or are you just saying how important of an asset they'll be?

I was not able to get cell service at the AO.

Here is a very detailed map of instructions. It's very simple. Look for the gravel pit where hwy 260 cuts away and goes north. Go 1 mile farther, when road curves left (north), you turn right.
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=211209980119668524461.0004c1d79d3c93960acbb&msa=0&ll=34.450529,-111.41731&spn=0.006706,0.013937

Remember, Gravel Pit, 1 more mile, Road turns north, you turn right.

Thanks for that detailed map.

Regarding the google map in the first post, do we have a phone number where we can reach the game organizer in case of something happening, like the ao / campsites getting closed, or we get lost along the way?
