goggles foging up.
« on: October 06, 2012, 11:41:26 AM »
I have not searched the forums that much so sorry if this has been asked before.

Want to know if there are any easy cheap ways to keep my goggles from foging up. I have a pair for flakjac goggles that are not to bad but I just got some they fit like sealed sunglasses and they fog up not really bad but still impairs my field of view. Anyone know an easy way to solve it.

Get some swimmer/scuba drops from sports stores.  About $7-8 for a bottle.

I took the two black vents off the top of my FlakJaks and that solved all my fog problems. It's worth a try!

Swimmers use toothpaste in their goggles I hear. I usually don't have fogging issues so I've never tried it.

Use a drillbit drill some holes on the top and botom area it allows airflow, also if you have some degreaser a little bit of that on the lens will help note that if your goggles are tinted dont use it because it will eat away at the tint

It doesn't work.  Then again, I always manage to get water inside my goggles most of the time :P

Fogtech - Clean lense, follow application directions and your problems go away.
http://www.rei.com/product/825631/fogtech-dx-instant-antifog-cloth-package-of-12

Works great, the only draw back is if it gets wet it will wash off. So if your sweating alot I recommend keeping your head up right to keep sweat off your lense, otherwise you may have to reclean and dry your lense, then re-apply. I also recommend the wipes vs. the bottle because they are premeasured.  The bottle is hard to get the right amount on the lense, too much or too little and it won't work well.

The ultimate anti-fog solution is fogtech coupled with ESS NVG Turbo Fans.  That combo will get you though the worst possible applications but it's not cheap.

If you care about your car, you probably have it laying around so its the free fix: Car wax. Works wonders.. doesnt allow moisture to condensate on the plastic nearly as much, and tends to bead off instead if you sweat as much as I do.

Otherwise, Fogtech or Cat Crap.

No, really... http://www.amazon.com/EK-Ekcessories-10003P-AM-Anti-Fog-Cleaner/dp/B002BHWZFI/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1349714238&sr=1-1&keywords=cat+crap

The stuff works wonders, so does Fogtech, but its much more expensive, and I usually only use it for my Scuba equipment.

x2 on the cat crap, when I first heard the name, I thought I was being trolled. But I bought some and was able to use them to great effect. Now I just use ESS Turbofans if I have to wear goggles, most of the time I just use Oakley M-frames.
