Platoon Early Warning System
« on: March 19, 2015, 09:52:31 AM »
Well hello again Gents!
Today I bring you another device of awesomeness, the AN/TRS-2(V) Platoon Early Warning System.

This bad boy is one of the original outdoor intrusion detectors, and consists of a portable receiver unit, and between 10-12 detector units.

Mine are all in great shape, and came nicely packaged in a 20mm ammo can. There are (2) Receivers, and (10) Detectors, it also came with multiple manuals, and several sets of legs/antennas.

If you are wondering at this point, WTF is this, What does it do, and why do I care? Here is the short of it.

The premise of this system is to be able to set a string of hidden detectors, and then tab back to wherever you have stashed your LP/Op, and monitor the detector for signs of activity. It basically serves to replace a team of 5-8 men who would be required to stay in constant position and monitor key roads and installations.

When the sensor detects movement (which it can do within 30 ft) it quickly processes it, decides if the signal is coming from a human, or a vehicle, and sends this off via RF to the receiver unit, where it pops up on the LCD screen. The operator then decides what he wants to do with the data.

A nice feature of this system is that it can be combined with a multitude of other devices to form a network of systems that provide infinite utility. Tired of people sneaking into your base? Put up some obstacles and attach a PEWS sensor to it. If they try and move it, you will be alerted.

Sensor detecting a bunch of movement in one area? Place some remote fired claymores around it.

They are used in conjunction with maps to provide provide choke points for vehicles, track movement, ect.

I know we plan to use them to great effect as an admin tool, and help to track player movement around objectives, and across the field.

Really like these sensors, and am quite glad I have had a chance to own and play around with them, they are definitely not something that comes up into the market, or playfield very often.

****MORE tests and photos to come as I continue to test the sensors! Stay tuned.

Einheit Frühwarnsystem!
