Independence Day Action Rifle Match
Mesa, AZ (Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club) 7-4-2008
www.cavalryarms.com/ID4/ID4.html

We will be running the Independence Day Action Rifle match to Benefit the Arizona Citizen’s Defense League again this year. AZCDL is a very pro-active pro-freedom organization that has accomplished a great deal with little resources over the past several years. They are well worthy of our support, and that is why all proceeds from the match will go to them. Rio Salado Sportsman's Club is graciously hosting the match and had allowed us full access to their facilities.

Video from last year: www.cavalryarms.com/vids/ID4-2007.wmv

This is an action style match with time + penalties scoring (lowest time overall wins). Those of you who shoot 3 gun will be used to the format. Penalties for No-Shoots and Un-hit targets have been upped to emphasize accuracy. We also score Intermediate Rifle cartridges and Battle Rifle Cartridges differently. Intermediate Rifle Cartridges (.223, 7.62x39mm, etc) require two hits anywhere or one A zone to neutralize, Battle Rifle Cartridges (7.62mm NATO, .30-06, 8mm Mauser, .303 British, etc.) need two hits anywhere or one C zone or better to neutralize. For full rules read here: www.cavalryarms.com/ID4/rules.html

Divisions:
Classic: Any firearm or copy of a design made in 1945 or before. All feeding devices and sighting devices must be of the correct time period too. Classic Division shooters may bayonet the targets (please don't tear them in half) if the course design lends itself to doing so.
Tactical Iron: Iron Sights only, Compensators must be less than 1 diameter X 3 length, no bipods allowed
Tactical Scope: Rifle: Any single optic may be used, Compensators must be less than 1 diameter X 3 length, no bipods allowed
Open: Rifle: No limitations on accessories

Details:

Match Cost: $40.00
Application here: www.cavalryarms.com/ID4/Application.doc
There will be 4 to 5 stages. At least half the match will be long range oriented (100-300 yards).
Sign in will start at 7:00AM
Shooter's meeting at 7:30AM
Range goes hot by 8:00AM
Finish Shooting by 2:00PM
Range Cleaned up and Stages torn down by 3:00PM
Prize Raffle and Awards to follow range clean up/tear down.

If anyone has suggestions for stages, can help set up, or RO, please e-mail me at rphagan@cavalryarms.com

ROs will travel with their squads so everyone will be able to shoot.

A final note, please do not let Cavalry Arms’ current situation dissuade you from attending. Several people have made offers to run the match in the event we are unable to do so for any reason (which currently seems to be an unlikely eventuality). So the match will happen regardless.

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / Gears Tactical supra xcembermas specials!!
« on: November 30, 2006, 07:09:40 PM »

OK Ok ok... so I need to clean out my closets and make some capital on the crap that has been piling up.

All mags and cool shit that isnt nylon isnt for sale!

First up is a Multicam plate carrier I made, all of the pouches are sewn on the front and there is no molle webbing underneith. The back has Molle webbing for attachments of a few things. It can accept plates.

$100 (the pouches alone are worth more, including the chuckwalla!)

Modular Vest panels:

Ranger green modular front panel can work with the hydration carrier listed above and most assault packs and/or camelbacks. Also this one splits in the front under the chuckwalla. Small area of molle webbing where the chuckwalla is but the rest is non molle double mag pouches (cumfort and weight saving).

$60 with the chuckwalla
$40 without
RG chuckwalla alone is $30
Package with hydration carrier and chuckwalla is $100

Ranger green shooting bag, pictures can say what is on there pretty well.

$50

next up is a slew of pouches:

These are double shingles that have bungee retention, a great and cheap alternative to a bunch of modular mag pouches. All are sized for two m4 mag pouches.

Triple $25
Quad $30 specify the color (khaki or CB)!!!

going left to right, top to bottom:

CB Triple long pistol mag shingle made for 40rnd glock mags I think can work with mp5 mags but not sure $15
Multicam m203 shell pouch $5
CB jacket or clothing stuff sack molle mountable $15
2 OD hydration carriers $15 each
3 multicam m14 mag pouches $7 each
khaki double m4 mag pouch $10

I accpet paypal but the buyer pays for shipping.

I will be at JT phoenix tomorrow from 5 till closing to sell items not already SPF by noon tomorrow. I accept cash only at JT.

GEARS TACTICAL SALE STATES THAT THESE PRODUCTS ARE NOT PRODUCTS OF COYOTE TACTICAL AND THEREBY DO NOT COME WITH MALICE CLIPS IF THEY ARENT SHOWN WITH THEM AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE CT LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTEE, THEY ARE SOLD AS IS.

Informational Links / Tactical Response Training
« on: March 16, 2006, 02:52:52 PM »
The root word to "gunfight" isn't "gun". It is "FIGHT"!

I just finished watching the DVD "Fighting Pistol" put out by Tactical Response. It is a great resource for training and information about using a gun in a violent encounter. It covers mindset, basics, tactics, general guidelines and legal issues involved. I learned a lot from this video and know now that I have even more to learn and hone with my pistol. It has everything you need to know from what gun to chose to what to do after you have shot and killed someone.

Here is a Trailer!

Real Firearms / A new painted gat!
« on: January 13, 2006, 04:52:33 PM »
Here is nate's gat in a fresh coat of multicam. I hand mixed the correct colors form a bunch of duracoat I purchased from www.rmpgunworks.com and then with the help of some 3" wide masking tape, a lot of patience and my airbrush, the MC gat is done.

As to the specs it is a lower from ammeetec arms in gilbert, a RRA upper with a CAS-VEL rail system from Vltor and the minor parts are a magpull stock, ergo grips and a magull enhanced trigger guard.

enjoy!

p.s. do not PM me asking for a paint job such as this unless you got at least $200 to throw down, it took all day, a day I could have been making money.

Accessories & Gear / Gear Making! Thread for do it yourself-ers...
« on: December 14, 2005, 07:43:37 PM »
Thought me and Nate going back and forth was taking too much away from the original idea of the sexy gear thread so I thought this would be more appropriate.

This is not a showcase of items for sale, I am not trying to peddle my wares on this site, and hope others do not. None of these items are for sale. This is to inspire guys who want legit gear but can't spare the coin to get working on making their own gear.

To start things off right here is a bunch of stuff I have done lately.

The bag with the Kenyan flag is a "man-bag" I use for church, I finally relented to a bag due to all the stuff I was collecting. I have the Kenyan flag on it becasue I lived there as a missionary for the LDS chuch.

Real Firearms / My new hotness!
« on: December 04, 2005, 09:07:37 PM »
So after much talking about buying a Glock 19, I finally bit the bullet and got one at the SAR show from Bear Arms. I did not have any money left after getting my Vltor and Tangodown fix so I went home and made myself an in the waistband holster. Still unfired as of right now. Next step: Night sights and more mags! enjoy!

sorry for the blurry pic.

Now is crashbandicoot still holding CCW classes?, I need to get me one of those ASAP!

what once was black is now tan!

Troubleshooting / Systema hop-up breakdown.
« on: November 09, 2005, 12:19:19 PM »
Here we go on part two of our AEG breakdown special.

I am going to go in reverse order showing how the hop up is put together from pieces and you can use the same order but in reverse to take it apart.

First behold the empty systema metal hopup chamber for M4. Now the parts on different hopup chambers are different slightly and have to be taken apart in different ways, as it is with the MP5. The general principles of a hop up will be shown here and the variations hopefully you can figure out.

Take a look at the bucking and barrel. Note that there is a little keyway grove in the bucking that matches up with the indent on the barrel. Slide the bucking on the barrel with those two matched up.

Slide the whole assembly into the hop up chamber with that little keyway toward the bottom of the hop up.

With that in you are ready to start placing the tiny bits intot he hopup. Start with placing the tiny little tube shown here in black in the notch of the white hop up over head cam and attach the spring as shown. I use a bit of vicious grease or shock oil in this case to stick it to the cam.

That little tube pushes against the bucking through the large notch in the barrel to create back spin on your exiting BB spinning it to keep it level during flight. Now place the cam and put the tiny pin in one end to keep it in(the pin can go either way, I think it goes opposite of how I show it :P ). Make sure that the spring enters into the little guide cut round for it.

You are ready to put your little gears back into place. Before you do check that the little tube on the cam is engaging the bucking by depressing it a bit to see the indent it makes into the barrel area. Now place the gears back in this sequence.

Put the one that engages the cam in first and the middle one in seccond.

Place the adjustment gear in and screw it in place.

At this point you should place the little round clip things on the ends of the posts to hold it all in place, I don't put those on becuase the gears all hold echother in place and none of them can come out because they are all in sequence with the large one. You can place themon with a screwdriver or some small prying device.

You are ready to close it up and place the little "C" clip to hold the barrel in place. I am shown taking it apart with a screwdriver, but it should go together with out prying. The sides of the clip should engage the little indents on the sides of the barrel.

Make sure that when you put it back in the body that the little spring on the guide is there above the barrel this helps the nozzel keep a good seal on the bucking and can cost you up to 30fps or more if not there.

If you have any suggestions on things you would like to see taken apart PM me and I will put them in another exciting eppisode!

AEG's / M4 shorty with style!
« on: October 10, 2005, 10:09:56 PM »
Had a hankering to do something with this body I had laying around so this afternoon I built this shorty front end just for fun. I used a stock TM M4 body, with the addition of a systema high speed motor. I then took a barrel nut left over from another project and welded a pice of exhaust pipe to it and tada! a shorty ready for CQB at its finest. Oh the stock is Vltor and the glass is an EOTech 511.

Enjoy!!

Real Firearms / Late night fun!
« on: October 08, 2005, 02:25:46 PM »
Here is some interesting ballistic results we obtained on a late night of shooting. All of these were targeted at a mild steel cube measuring 6" on a side.

These strikes were from a .223 AR-15 at 100ft:

These were from 9mm and .45cal rounds at 50ft:

This hit was from an AP round fired form my M1 Garand cal .3006 it penitrated 1.29 in. into the block before stopping:

This is a .223 shot from 100ft at a .5 in. mild steel plate:

Just something I had lying around the workshop and thought it would be fun to shoot at.

General Off-Topic Discussion / War of the Worlds
« on: July 01, 2005, 01:35:00 AM »
Just came home from seeing this film, beautifully done in a kind of dawn of the dead, night of the living dead, independance day, end of the world kinda thing. A valuable lesson learned, having a sh*t hits the fan alien invasion stockpile of weapons are not for killing aliens but for defense against other people. Good movie to see in theaters though I defietly need to see the original film again, streetlamps turning people into shadows was way cooler than deathrays making dust balls of folks. What did you all think?
