Desert Dog Police K9 Trials
« on: April 27, 2007, 11:14:26 PM »
A few Sundays ago, I was at the Desert Dog Police K9 Trials in Scottsdale, and I took 1250 pictures.  Some of them are cool, so I figured I'd share.

Its hard to condense a large amount of pictures into a representative quantity, so I picked ones I thought were neat.  Some appear out of order because they probably are.

Saturday really has all the cool stuff, and I've been on Saturday in previous years, but never taken any photos before.

Here's some photos that aren't mine of some of the cool stuff from previous years -

I've always wondered, if a dog is running at you, presumably with hostile intent, and you kick it in the head really hard, will that deter it?  At all?

You'd have to time it right, but, I bet it would.

Best bet is just to shoot it though.

Cool pics, Riath, if not a little late.

Very cool pics.  K9 is one of the things I'd consider in LE.

I work with dogs so I can answer. Not really.

You would have to either kick it square in the nose or manage an eye shot. And even then if you pissed it off this far your already screwed. Cause if you miss they have the leg. On a Sheperd its even worse since they have longer jaws. Plus at their speed with clean nut shot since you missed........

German Shepards are awesome. Out of all the ones we've had only 1 Mutt Sherpard was bad. They are a good size, listen and don't take crap from other dogs.  Plus they are not detered by hoses.

ah...just like CS- hide behind the guy with the shield!

agreed with Vince though... best bet is gonna be FMJ solution

edit: and what's with the lack of head protection? even if the dogs are trained not to go after the head, I'm betting there's a good chance the targets are gonna get dragged ass down to the ground, possibly knocked over and such.

best episode ever

anyways, those are some really nice pics i like the one where the dog has the guy by the nipple. That would hurt very bad(if he didnt have his protection on).

In eugene as an option besides road crew you could volunter to be the guy in the suite.  They did it at the fair grounds and it was fun to watch.
