batteries and deans
« on: October 14, 2012, 04:15:33 PM »
Ok so I'm pretty new to modifying things and I just got an M4 that was wired to Deans. I either need a crane stock and crane battery or a full stock and a female deans for a battery I have.

Question is this: If I get the crane stock, do I HAVE to get a crane battery? Or will a nunchuck style work in a crane?

Also, do I need to wire the battery for deans, or can I use a tamiya to deans adapter?

Again, I'm new to these kind of things, so be nice.

Do you still want the female connector?

A Nunchuck style battery  will work in a crane stock. You can use a tamiya adapter its just you wont get the benefits of using deans then.

No you don't have to get a crane configured battery, there are several configurations that can work in a crane stock.  I'd suggest getting a battery that will fit the crane stock that will also fit for as many of your other guns as possible, this way your battery is as universal as possible.

Nunchuck battery may or may not fit in a crane stock or a full stock, it depends on the configuration of the battery you are looking at.  There are many many configurations for a "nunchuck" battery.

You can use an adaptor from tamiya to deans, but I too would recommend just wiring the battery for deans.  The deans connector is more robust for the AEG application than the tamiya connector, so it is better to eliminate the weak link.

Thanks Sarge. I currently only have one AEG, and I'm thinking of either getting a full stock since I have a battery that will fit in one or re-rewiring it back to the handguard. Question to all: If a gun has been rewired to another part, is it as simple as threading it back the way it came to make it original again?

Crap. I've opened a gearbox before... it wasn't fun. I watched a step-by-step on it, but putting it back together sucked. It's best I don't do things like that anymore.

Just work with what you got, change connections and then get a battery that fits
