Propper?
« on: October 01, 2009, 09:01:56 AM »
How good are the "propper" ACU uniforms?
Also what do the sizes on BDU.com mean? Ex- Height and Sleeve.. like where does the sleeve length stop and end when measuring? Same with the height.
Haha one more Q.. what does this mean, Blouse- 37-41in x 59-63in.
Plus does anybody know if acuarmy.com is a good place to buy from?
-thanks-

My proper Multicam is in great shape after about 7 games. I'd recomend the BDU cut though, the ACU cut is annoying. All that velcro gathers up leaves and dirt, and it's pretty loud when you open it. I went down the weird path and bought my Multicam in BDU pants and an ACU coat. I like the pants much more.

I love Mine, it's really comfortable.
Stick with BDU.com there real deal stuff, not fake. ACUArmy.com is the exact same stuff, but BDU.com is a lot cheaper
The sizes will have almost nothing to do with sleeve length.
The sizes give you an Idea of the size you will need. If you have a tailor measure you those will be the sizes he would look for when custom tailoring something. (Hopefully that made some sense.)

Sizes have to do with height and weight(roundness)
I am 6'4'', 280 pds and I wear and XL/L blouse
My little brother is 5'10'' and maybe 150pds he wear a Medium Regular.

Hmmm.. Well im 6'5" maybe 6'6" now and weigh 180. Im a pretty lanky sob so what would be a good size for me? I was thinking a large/long or large/extra long. im afraid that might be to big in the blouse tho (im not very wide)

PROPPER uniforms are good quality, just be sure to order the correct size, and follow the laundering instructions.

"Q.. what does this mean, Blouse- 37-41in x 59-63in." means 37-41 in chest measurement (a circumfrential measurement taken around the chest) for an overall height of 59-63 inches.

I've never heard of acuarmy.com.  I've purchased from http://www.hdesert.com/ and was satisfied with the overall transaction.

For your best best, do a google search for "bdu/acu size chart" to find the best size for you.

I am 6'5" 190lbs, and my issue ACU sizes are Med/ X-Long for BDU and ACU, Med/long for A2CU, IABDU (the Aramid doesn't shrink in the dryer, and is cut a bit longer for aircrew garments).  I have yet to find a civilian manufacturer that sells Med/X-Long (Med/Long can be found damn near everywhere).  You may have to settle for Med Long and be sure to hang dry them.

I don't know the best place to order from online, But if you go to Papago Park Military Reservation on 52nd St and McDowell Rd the National Guard Uniform store carries every size of ACU's you could want and you can try 'em on. All you need is Picture ID (as in a Drivers Lic) to enter the gate. Ask the MP how to get to the Uniform store.

Like azsarge said pay attention to the wash instructions! always was uniforms in cold water turned inside out and either hang dry, or dry on low with a dryer sheet. THEY WILL SHRINK IN HOT WATER.
