We tried that once before...  maybe due to lack of planning, but it never worked.  Our team walked about 2 miles and only engaged the enemy team once.  Our reinsertion area was about a half mile walk.

The idea really does have merit but it takes good intel.  If someone knows an area well enough to plot out such things as reinsertion points and starting staging areas, in such a way that it eliminates the heavy walking and down time that we had before, it would be great.  In fact, it would be pretty realistic.  Spotters could be placed out with radios to inform the teams of any activity, etc.  Worth a thought.

A game like that would involve either the use of GPS systems, or very good map reading compass skills.  It has been mentioned in the past.  Otherwise you have two teams walking in circles that may never even get a glimps of each other.

I figure if we call teams two weeks in advance, schedule pratice time and never tell the teams the area they will be playing till there given the map the night before (Fax to team CO) and let each team figure there own fighting style and defenceive areas. Have this game last at least 12 hours, with night play for the people w/ nite vision.
We could use a team of refs to insure fare play and to keep honest poeple honest.
If there is enough support, I would be willing to devote my time to planning and setup. I can think of a few places where no one has played before that would be sutiable for this kind of game.
If you think this will work i am willing to start planning this.
This would be a good test of team training, structure, and battle planning.
Let me know what you think.

It's a good theory but will take a lot more thought.  The 12 hour game idea won't fly with my wife, but perhaps it will work for others.  And getting together for training tends to work out best for those who are not working full time and have families.  :-)
I still like the idea.  We could do it on a cheaper version and still make it good.  i wouldn't get too deep into it just yet, but don't drop it, either.

Well I'm all for it, but I just don't have the time to commit for practice, etc. It's hard enough for me to get the time to go to a game, let alone anything else.

That's something that should be done at an event such as ASOC or a larger event like OSG perhaps.

You wouldnt have to put the teams 2 miles apart so they cant see eachothers camp, like up at sasco if one team started at the CQB area and one started at the hotel. It works, and another way is to put both teams at the bottom of a large hill maybe.

Say we do a smaller scale version of this, use a larger area that no one has played before ( I know tons) and devide the teams the day before. have the two teams meet at diffrent areas and both teams leave for there start points at the same time, geared up and ready to go.
I think the hill idea is great. I know some places in the white tanks that would work for this great.

Then all you're doing is playing paintball.  The idea behind the way play is Milsim.  Which means we like to play as realisticly as possible.  Which also means not being able to see your opposing team at the beginning of the game.  Suprise, tactics, evasion, stealth, these are all parts of what we like to put into a game.  I personnaly dislike hills, my old knees would rather stay away from them as much as possible.

Just A Thought

I was woundering if it would be possible or even logical to have a game where opposing teams never see/meet each other untill the game is on.
Have diffrent meeting places, each team has their own transport to the start point, maby have it so that the teams can't see the other teams start point from theirs. I think this would be a cool way of getting people pumped for a game.
Is it worth a try or even better, has it been done before by AA.
