Should  i purchase the ares g36 (electric blowback) or the ares m4?

both are really great guns, but i need help deciding which weapon is better. if anyone has either of these guns could they give me a review, or if anyone would be nice enough to scavenge the web for reasons one is better than the other it would be greatly appreciated

All the replies here say it true. For the $250 you could get a much better gun or buy a JG or other lower quality gun and upgrade it to be better.

I personally prefer them, but I'm a sucker for a quick change spring.

I've had zero failures in any of my or team mates Umarex/Ares guns, when run below 20bb/sec and below 400fps w/ .20g bbs. Our M60 is still rocking after many games of 10,000 bbs shot per game.

G36 vs M4 is personal preference. Try them both out, see which ergonomics work better for you.

I prefer the G36, personally, and HK in general. I just love paddle mag releases, among other small things.

I'm with Nuke on this.  I've had multiple E1 and CA G36's.  I'll take the Ares over them any day.

The electric blow backs put more stress on the gearbox, more specifically the piston. Dont go for Ares, I can't tell you how many countless Ares guns I have worked on where they are complete trash internally. If you HAVE to pick one go for the M4. More parts and upgrades and such.

Yes stay away from the ARES, the gearbox and a lot of the components are ARES specific. I had the E1 (both g36 and M4....long since moved on to KWA and won't turn back) and really enjoyed it, the gearbox they have in the new Echo 1's are surprisingly nice for the $165. I would buy one and use it any day. I have worked on ARES and the components they are constructed of are not that of other brands. I like M4 platforms A LOT! but a G36 platform is unique looking and a little different from all the M4 variants floating around. I agree with Nukeduster, get your hands on each one and test out how each one feels. Mess with the mag release, move around with it, toy with the selector switches and stocks and pick the one that conforms and is more friendly to your build, and stance.

I can tell you that nothing inside the umarex gearbox is umarex/ares specific, at least not on the g36, except maybe the spring guide and the trigger micro switch/trigger mechanism.

And the gearbox shell itself, because it has a quick change spring and a bolt-hold-open feature, as well as a de-cock lever that decocks the spring.

They are generic v2/3 gears, piston, piston head, nozzle, tappet plate, anti reverse, etc.

Sorry I didn't clarify, I meant the GB shell, and I have had issues with fitting other Gearboxes into the body, and I am not a fan of their past hop-up designs. They had the design where the Hop-up was attached to the GB, and once the seal was tampered with it seemed that the factory compression could never be obtained.
