STALKER: Hunting for a Black Box is an upcoming scenario game to be hosted at SASCO AO this coming December 3rd. Based off of the popular video game and film, Stalker takes place after the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster, with teams fighting for control in the irradiated "Zone". You can visit our Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/groups/204125249657908/ (http://www.facebook.com/groups/204125249657908/)), and join to get on the spot updates about the game.

Concept -

Players will be a member of a Faction, with each Faction having a base of operations where the team's Money is stored. It costs $100 (Game Money) per life, and as such each player must be carrying $100 to be "alive" in the game, when a player is killed, someone else can take their money off their "body". Money can be earned for the team by completing mission objectives, and can be used to bribe neutral factions to fight with you. Money can also be used to "purchase" full auto, nobody, excluding the Military, starts being allowed to use full auto fire, it must be "purchased" first.

There will be a token game fee of $5 per player, which will be used to cover the cost of props and pyrotechnics in the game.

Teams/Factions that will be fighting in Hunting for a Black Box.

Free Stalkers (16+ Players) (Allies - Duty/Freedom)
-The average Stalker, just looking to get by in the Zone, while trying to make a quick buck. Quick to flee a fight, but ready to defend their fellow loners out there in the Zone.
Uniforms - Street Clothes
Missions
Find and sell Artifacts
Find the Black box to sell to either Duty or Freedom
Protect fellow Free Stalkers from Bandits and the like

Bandits (8+ Players)
-Criminals who came to the Zone looking for their fortune, or just trying to avoid jail time. They often rob Stalkers of their treasures and leave them for dead. Because of their tactics, almost all factions hate them, but most don't have the time to deal with them.
Uniforms -  Street Clothes/Black Jackets/Black Hoodies
Missions
Steal Money and Articacts from Free Stalkers
Distrupt the work of Duty and Freedom
Steal the Black Box from the Free Stalkers

Military Stalkers (6-8 Players)
-Government soldiers trained to protect the integrity of the Zone from outside elements, notably, Stalkers trying to sneak in. They want to recover the Black Box because it was their helicopter that crashed near the city of Pripyat.
Uniforms - Woodland Camo (Requires AEG or Rifle)
Missions
Secure the Black Box and recover all the intelligence related to it
Prevent Stalkers from entering the Zone
Destroy the base of Duty and Freedom

Duty (6-12 Players) (Allies - Free Stalkers)
-A group of ex-Stalkers, Mercenaries, Soldiers, and Scientists who believe that the Zone is an infestation of the world, and that the horrors within it will eventually spread beond its borders. They want to see the Zone destroyed, and will stop at nothing to make sure that nothing leaves the Zone. They are generally friednly to Free Stalkers, and will buy Artifacts from them.
Uniforms - Desert Camo (DCU) with an overall Red colour scheme
Missions
Capture and destroy the Black Box
Purchase Artifacts from Stalkers
Kill Duty/Bandits

Freedom (6-12 Players) (Allies - Free Stalkers)
-A group of gun-toting, freedom loving, soldiers who believe in free access to the Zone and its benefits for everyone. Almost contantly ina constant state of war with Duty, due to their varying beliefs about the Zone.
Uniforms - Desert Camo (DCU) with an overall green colour scheme
Missions
Prevent Duty from destroying the Black Box and capture it for themselves
Purchase Artifacts from Stalkers
Protect the Free Stalkers from Bandits and the Military
Kill Duty/Bandits

Monolith (4-8 Players) (Ceasefire - Dark Stalkers)
-Composed of people who were originally subjects in a Soviet mind controll experiment gone wrong, now they are composed of people they subject to mind control, and people who join them of their own will, they are essentially hostile to everyone, except the Dark Stalkers who they have an uneasy truce with. They want to see the Zone made secure, and keep everyone else out.
Uniforms - Digital Camo (ACU)
Missions
Prevent the capture of the Black Box
Stop the removal of Artifacts from the Zone
Prevent anyone from entering Pripyat
Capture Free Stalkers/Bandits to turnt hem into Zombified Stalkers

Zombified Stalkers (N/A)
-Composed of people either captured by Monolith, or who died due to radiation or anomalies. They lack higher intelligence and just seak out prey to blindly shoot at, although that can't operate as a team, or use any sort of tactics, they can quickl overwhelm a lone Stalkers. Players who are either captured by Monolith, or are unable to "buy" their next life (inagme currency) can play as Zombified Stalkers untill they are able to kill a player and take their money.
Missions
Kill people to gain enough money to "buy another life"

That's number of spots.

Ages 16+ is good, 12-15 with parents in attendance, FPS limits are 350 for autos, 450 for rifles. Group wise, Military, Duty, Freedom, and Monolith have gear reqs. All need to have AEGs or Rifle, Military is your basic woodland camoflauge, Duty and Freedom are Desert Camo with a red/green overall colour theme (respectively). Monolith is Any other camo.

I'm hoping for 50+ people, and everyone has to sign a waiver, basically saying that i won't be sued if you get hurt.

Parent must attend as in play? or just be there?

So ACU would only be Monolith? And, Monlolith would be the universal Op-For?

Just be there, although it'd be great if they wanted to play as well. An Older sibling will suffice, basically if your 15 or under you need to be there with someone.

So ACU would only be Monolith? And, Monlolith would be the universal Op-For?
ACU is good for Monolith.

Monolith essentially is against everyone. Yes, they are the Universal Op-For, and their goals are constantly conflicting with the other Factions, notably making sure no one is able to retrieve artifacts and the Black Box.

Is there a requirement for gas mask/ facial cover? BTW, +1-2 for either Duty/freedom (is dark STALKER a open group? or is it closed?

Gas mask is appropriate for a face mask, and as long as the eyes are fully covered then it's appropriate, under 16 you need a full face mask (paintball mask).

Dark Stalkers (Sin) are game admins.

I believe that the hatfield a.o is state land. And if that is true I don't think you can charge a fee to play there. Better ask some of  the higher UPS on the forum. Saguaro plays at hatfield all the time, don't want to end up loosing our field to someone who didn't Dot their I's and cross there t's.

It's not a fee to use the land, it's a fee to participate in an event taking place on said land, although I am no lawyer, I think you can pitch it as that. Anyway, the fee is really just trying to break even on prop purchases, I'm not making any money on this, it's a game for the players by the players.

Sign me up, and let us know the Date and time.

What would Desert Digital Count as? I didn't get a chance to read through the whole OP.

Most likely December 3rd (1st Saturday of the month)

Desert Digital (ACU) is Monolith.

Now my only concern is the limited size of Hatfield AO vs. the amount of interest, would it be big enough for 60 players? On about 6 separate factions?
Title: Re: Stalker Airsoft: Hunting for a Black Box (Arizona)
Post by: DarrK on October 15, 2011, 03:49:52 PM
I agree with Red Devil, I would be careful about using state land for such a large event, I'd suggest calling a Peoria Government Office or something of the sort and figure out land use-age.

Back when I Dirtbiked, You had to pay for a Recreational State Land Permit to ride on state land or risk a fine.

Who owns the Hatfield AO location? If it's owned by the State land and Trust Dept. then I need to file for a permit, if not then I don't need to.

You can use the land but if you are going to charge money  no matter whar its for you need to get a permit for that. I looked it up when we were trying to find new places to play airsoft. Permit is free if there are no monetary gains. That means if money is going to your hands for any reason you need to get a permit. You need to seriously check into this! I will post the website when I find it..

No. Go on maricopa.gov.

the parcel number is 201-22-005a. Its owned by arizona state land department. But it doesnt say if its for sale or not. So who know?

But to the south of hatfield, llc owns it

If its state land you need a permit for any kind of money exchange and the limit is 20 people for thay permit. Dragon I just  don't want hatfield suddenly to be off limits to us or anybody else that plays there. You know its a cool place for airsoft.

I agree, I don't want to jepordize the location because we "over did it" with this game. I'm going to try and file for the land permit, so I'll see how that goes. Well do any of you know of another location that I could look at, while I look more into getting this approved?

fightertown. It is big enough for the game that you are looking for, with multiple fields and differing areas, giving for a better game

It doesn't give that same feel though... It's not supposed to be Hardcore Contact all the time, There are many factions and having them all too close together would cause confusion.

This game type needs a rather large sized AO, that has SOME walking distance inbetween the "Start" zones for the factions. Aswell as needing to have the key objective locations.

SASCO is always a good option I hear, But Sadly I probably wouldn't attend due to the distance.

Agreed.

On a side note, if we are playing out of Phoenix, I will be arranging a car pool meet-up, so that we can save on gas, and so distance wont be an issue.

Four Peaks AO, Bloody Basin, Copper Basin.  Some ideas of good large AOs that is ok.  Props are of your own doing, instead of charging people, maybe ask for help with making props or something.  And the use of pyrotechnics at that AO is NOT a good idea at all... hell pyrotechnics anywhere in the desert is not a good idea...

Please reconsider your AO location.  60 people at Hatfield is just too much....

fightertown wouldn't be that bad of an idea. you could talk to henry and have him open all the fields to make one huge one and bam you have your props. but then again killerdragon is right that there needs to be a sizable distance between each faction to make it"feel right". but then again it would be pretty big all together lol.

one more thing what spot would you guys think is the most fun? im having a hard time deciding lol!

What are the addresses for those locations by the way?

I agree with that point, Hatfield is too unofficial, and small for a large event. But the fee seems fair, with it being only $5, it stands really, especially if I need to pay someone to rent their land for the game.

i agree with ghost 1216, fighter town is definatley ;arge enough, and i think the 16+ rule is good, and 12-15 accompanied by adult is good, fighter town has a great prop zone, the are already looks as though hit by an atomic haullacaust, it has trenches, cqb, and a warlike feel to it, fighter town is the way to go

Fightertown is too small. It's certainly a nice field, yes, but the main issue is that there's supposed to be a large amount of area for combat and exploration (there will be hidden artifacts), it can't be a constant, all-encompassing, battle.

I like SASCO, it's owned and operated as an actual airsoft field, so the legalities are cleared up, I sent the owner an email, but never got a reply, I'll try a phone call today and let you guys know how it goes.

EDIT
I was thinking of another location, SASCO is BLM land, but still our best bet! SASCO OR BUST

Yes, it is a one day Op. We're going to have a carpool set up from Phoenix, we'll most likely meet in a Parking Lot in South Phoenix, all load up into the designated cars, then drive down. Anyone who wants to drive is encouraged to stop by the carpool area and take some of the people in their vehichle, and people are encouraged to give a few dollars to the driver to cover a portion of the gas. It's not required, but it's a nice gesture.

Ignoring my awful map drawing skills, here's about the overall IDEA for the zones/territory of the different factions.

Military, and SASCO is South of Eloy but North of Tuscon, near Red Rock or something.

For military you said woodland do you mean regular green splotchy or Woodland MARPAT? Also would Multicam fit in anywhere?

Either works.

And Multicam can essentially fit anywhere between Military, Duty, and Freedom. If you are playing as Duty, remember to take a red colour scheme, and Freedom with a green, Multicam is appropriate as military how it is, but is less preferred then  MARPAT or Basic "Woodland/Splotchy".

SASCO is a drive, But so was the Prescott trip afew months ago, I may go if some people want to car-pool and share some of the gas cost.

I can fit 3 more comfortably, with room for gear. I'm located in the Surprise area if anyone is interested.

I mentioned we could all meet at the South Phoenix Best Buy Parking lot, it's right next to the interstate.

(5051 East Ray Road
Phoenix, AZ 85044)

But if you wanted to carpool with other North Phoenixers, that'd be just as cool, make sure they pre-order, saves you money, and saves me from worrying about turn-out  ;D

I like SASCO, it's owned and operated as an actual airsoft field, so the legalities are cleared up, I sent the owner an email, but never got a reply, I'll try a phone call today and let you guys know how it goes.
Did you confirmed the site yet? Will you have appointed team leaders or non-players to track and ensure the ops is played by the rules and objective throughout the game?

I will have some staff playing as well, mostly to make sure the rules are being follows and to increase goal-oriented play, but I haven't had any people ask about Team Leaders yet, if someone wants to be a team leader and can do the job, they are free to do so, just send me a message (and be pre-ordered).

It looks like I may be interested in joining up on this one. I have a few questions though:

1. What weight BB are you thinking? 375 FPS and 500 FPS is all fine and dandy, but without a BB weight to compare with it doesn't really mean anything.

2. Where exactly would an AEG with full auto disabled fit in? Assuming said AEG is higher than 375 FPS, is that acceptable for a "sniper" rifle?

As long as it can't fire full auto, yes, but as always, no "sniping" from ten ft. away.

As far as BB weight, .25g BBs.

I will also be there doing Chrono, dont sweat the fps rules, and people cheating them.

I will be there with a bag of bb's and my chronograph.

markers will be placed on every Airsoft rifle chronographed.

No marker on the gun during play means it wasnt chronographed, and you will be set to game control for rule violation.

i will be doing chrono with .25 bb's will make sure every rifle, has field set hopup. Meaning I will shoot the gun down range before i chrono it. this is to insure people arn't cranking there hop up alll the way on to skip past chrono.
Anything over 375 Fps On a .25g bb, Has to be semi auto Only. No exceptions.

MAX FPS @ 375 FULL AUTO.
MAX FPS @ 600 BOLT ACTION/SEMI AUTO SNIPER 100 Foot Enguagement rule.

Both scenarios have just been written, one where the Military is defending the SASCO town against Monolith incursion, with the Free Stalkers and Bandits caught in the middle. The other is the full scenario with Duty and Freedom going to war, Monolith raiding everyone, the military trying to keep order in the town, with Stalkers fighting for all sides, and Bandits trying to get ahead with underhanded robbery and raids.

Wish us luck, and tell your friends, Stalker: Arizona (1) is a go!

Directions –
1.   Take I10 South to exit 226 at Red Rock.
2.   After exiting go right onto East Sasco Road.
3.   Turn onto S Aguirne Lane.
4.   Turn onto East Sasco Rd again and continue until a fork.
5.   At the fork continue on Sasco, do not go to E Coachway road.
6.   Continue down Sasco, you will encounter a wash, most likely filled with water, you need a truck!
7.   Carefully make your way through that by car, or walk the rest of the way (less than 2 miles)
8.   Continue down East Sasco Road until you reach the field, marked by either a (small) sign, or by the cars of the other players, do not drive into the area though, please park in a safe location nearby, we don’t want cars on the field.

Overall, this game was everything a STALKER scenario should have been, and nothing it shouldn't. As a true fan of the series, this fulfilled many a STALKER-airsoft fantasy for me. The STALKERs acted like stalkers, the bandits acted like bandits, an in-game currency system that worked like a charm, alliances, betrayals, this game HAD IT ALL. It literally is probably the best 5 dollars I have ever spent. This DarrK guy is pure genius, was able to make this work very well with staff support. I acted as the CO for the military faction, paying people off, and better yet, saying GET OUT OF HERE STALKER!! :D

Result:

Military attempted to get the Black Box from Monolith who held them back, unfortunately Monolith didn't get the memo that the Black Box was supposed to stay in place, and they moved it to a nearby hill to defend it there, that was my fault, as I should have told them. Nonetheless, the Free Stalkers joined with Monolith to help them repel the military. In the last 5 minutes the Military says over the radio that since they all got killed they wont be able to walk there by the time the game is over so the Free Stalkers and Monolith turn and open fire at each other from point blank range (I have 5 very large bruises to prove it). Lo and behold, up come two bandits from out of the bushes after we are all dead, the only two surviving players able to get the Black Box.
