AST Custom Tokyo Marui Version 3 Gear Box with 8mm Bearing
« on: March 17, 2005, 07:38:42 PM »
Has anybody seen are heard of a AST Custom Tokyo Marui Version 3 Gear Box with 8mm Bearing. Airsoft Troops will be selling these soon. To me a 8mm Bearing just sounds nuts, I have never thought it was possible to do such a thing. How much difference can that make?

I would imagine it could increase your ROF quite a bit by reducing bearing friction, but forget about using it with anything over an M100.  Granted, I'm no V3 expert, but I know larger bearings in general applications provide less friction.

I suppose it would also increase battery life by decreasing motor strain.  The question is, does this warrant the extra cost?

Ya good point, it cost more than three times the amount,  of a stock mauri gear box.  I still wonder about Durability  and performance for that overkill sized bearing.

Just bore out the holes already to 8mm, then buy 8mm bushings.  It'd have to be done at a machine shop, but it could be done for about $15.
