HELP PLEASE!!!!
« on: October 24, 2009, 10:34:36 PM »
Hey guys
Im new here!!!
And new to airsoft!!!
Im looking to get into this sport.  Im sure ill like it because I really enjoy paintball and similar activities.
Anyways
Im looking around the internet, doing as much research as possible and Im having a hard time figuring out what's quality and what's flash.  Sooooo.........

I have an opportunity to buy a rifle and a pistol (unnecessary probably but hey,  its all for fun) but I'd like some input on overall quality, upgrade capability is it a good buy.  Plus any other info you'd feel would be good for me to have.

Now, because I know I enjoy the sport already I don't want to buy a cheap gun I'll want to get rid of in a month.  So I don't mind buying something a little above "beginner".

Airsplat seems to be the go-to website for info so I'll include links for retail prices ect.

So now the fun part...

D-boy BI-3381 for  $110
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-BI-M4-3581M.htm

Pistol
seems to be a
Wei E Tech HG-197 $100  but I can't seem to find a ton of info on it.

I realize I may have found a smoking deal and one of you may buy it up but I guess I'll risk it.  lol

I also realize if you don't know these guns off the top of your head that it becomes quite a project so I appreciate the effort and ANY help.

save money and buy one of the following brands Classic Army, Tokyo Marui, ICS, G&G, G&P, KWA,  VFC, or any other high end brand I'm missing. Just remember when it comes to airsoft money equals quality. They will last longer, they have better quality parts and they will be a good investment.

Or just go with Echo 1, which is quality, and won't break the bank. CA is good, especially the sportlines for new players. Personal tip from my point of view, avoid Tokyo Marui, they are very reliable stock, but, by the time you upgrade it into a field worthy gun, you have spent more then its worth, and it loses its reliability, so whats the point? You can get good quality, metal external, less expensive rifles from other brands. G&G is good. But if you are just starting, don't blow 3 - 400$ on a rifle, buy a sportline, or an E1, and then go play, if you like it, and you feel you want something else, buy another gun. The tip I am actually surprised your not getting is stay away from airsplat like the plague. Search the forum for the number of threads about airsplat shipping damaged goods, broken stuff, or not shipping at all, and you will get quite a few results.
Anyway... just my 0.02
O! And the thing that matters more than anything else... Buy the gun you want, not the one someone makes you think you want. :) In the long run, the gun you like better will always seem to preform better then the others, so go try a few out for size, weight, and looks before you buy...... Its kind of like dating...  :D

Thanks guys!!!
Awesome advice!!!
Before I found the guns i posted i was looking at an Echo 1 M4 CQB.  But after some reviews im not sure.  mostly because of accuracy and distance.  it is CQB after all.  I see myself playing more outdoors for now.
Any ideas on that gun would help

Ive heard and read about airsplat and i will be staying away from it.  Just used it for the info   :)

More input is always encouraged.
Thanks!!!

I would go with TM.  I have seen TM's that are more accurate stock than upgraded CA's.  TM really does make some of the best products.  As far as quality goes, it is TM, CA with G&G and ICS, Echo 1, and the 'others' lol.

If it where me I would go talk to Ron and Gearbox Airsoft and see what he has on consignment and/or here on the forums.
