This is a signal boost on a situation you may already have heard of. Chuck from Shadow Viper Airsoft Team just recently achieved his long term goal of opening his own airsoft shop. No more than a few months in, his shop was broken into and ransacked. The first time, only a few items were taken. Over the Christmas weekend, it was hit again and completely gutted. All of his hard work over 16 years is now gone. His shop is closed indefinitely until either his merchandise and personal gear is returned, or he somehow restocks enough to reopen.

I'd like to let all members reading this to please reach out to Chuck on facebook. You can reach him here: https://www.facebook.com/shadowviperairsoftrepairs/

This isn't some small heist. This was this man's passion and his dream. To have it defiled and disgraced by lowlife scum is infuriating. I pray that when these individuals are caught, they too learn what having one's dreams taken from them is like while they serve their sentence.

If you are responsible and you are reading this, I pray your future cellmate is not kind and gives you a hands on lesson in the definition of regret.

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / WTS: CYMA M14 SOCOM16 Upgraded for DMR
« on: June 09, 2014, 07:09:17 PM »

Willing to sell the following:

CYMA M14 SOCOM w/ scope

Prometheus 6.03 tight-bore barrel

(8) Steel Mid Cap Magazines 90-rds
(2) Poly Mid Cap Magazine 90-rds

The rifle is missing the selector nob to keep the DMR as semi auto for most fields. Also has a broken charging lever. These are both easily replaceable for about $20.00 the charging handle does not effect operation in the slightest and is completely cosmetic.

Rifle: $120.00
Steel Mid Cap: $10.00ea
Poly Mid Cap: $8.00ea
Poly High Cap $10.00ea

$185.00 for everything.

Airsoft Items WANTED / WTB - Tan SCAR (non-working/no internals)
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:36:19 AM »
Thanks for stopping by!

What I am looking for is a tan SCAR. I am not looking for any internals (ie. inner barrel, gearbox, battery, hop-up, motor). I would like to keep all other functioning parts (trigger, mag release, charging handle, etc).

This gun does not have to be new.

I am willing to pay a fair price, but nothing over $75.oo.

This will be used as a prop. If possible, I would also like to purchase a straight (Vietnam-style) magazine for the rifle. Just one will suffice.

Please PM me with an image or offer and we can negotiate.

Oh man, you are awesome.

General Off-Topic Discussion / New Music & Shameless Artist Plugs
« on: June 11, 2013, 09:39:20 AM »
I don't believe the community has an outlet for a thing like this, but I did notice we had some avid gamers on this site. I love music and I’m a huge fan of most score composers and video game music. I listen to just about every genre, and love music in general. I’m always searching for new sounds and new talent to add to my collection. What I want to do with this thread is allow people to post and plug away some unique gems of talent they may have stumbled across. If we could establish some form of format for the posts would be great. Something like the one below:

Name of Band/Artist: Riley Marengo
Type of Sound: Video Game Chip-Tunes
Sounds Like: The Music Scores to Golden Sun, Old Final Fantasy Titles, Castlevania Titles, Phantasy Star Titles, ChronoTrigger, and Epic Adventure games on old systems.
Where to Listen: SoundCloud
Where to Buy/Download: SoundCloud

I figure this is a good way to share community tastes in music and get some publicity for those smaller groups. For the guy listed above, I strongly believe he needs a position with either a major handheld platform or rising mobile gaming company. His Chip-Tunes are great and they bring me back to some of the classic greats.

I look forward to what others in the community have to share.

Spring Power!! / Re: L96 Ideas and Innovative Mods
« on: June 07, 2013, 11:41:41 AM »
I wanted to post an idea on an externally accessible Hop Up Adjustment for the L96. I know that some of you that have dealt with this rifle have considered that adjustment in the mag well a pain in the  :-X to get to and adjust out on the field. I liked the idea of the adjustment in the M14 and reverse engineered an idea I would like to implement.

For the below image, my idea is to JB weld the L-Bracket to the Mag release. Some filing and dremelling will be needed to preserve the release lever. The concern with this mod is the strength of the adhesion and the possibility that the adjuster will be tagged when changing mags. I had an alternate idea of using an S-Bracket to attach the adjuster to the frame of the gun. The only problem with this idea is making sure that the spring loaded hex key, aligns with the hop up upon re assembly. With the design below (if it holds during use) will not only make assembly easier, but also should preserve a true center to the mag release lever.

If you look at the drawing, I will have to find a hollow or semi hollow tube that will not only hold the hex nub, but be able to hold a spring for the hex nub. This tube will have to be modded to support a groove for the C-Washer that will snap onto the tub and create positive force of the adjustment knob to the bracket. The idea is to salvage or find an adjustment knob that has stippling on the bottom and drill or hammer matching stippling into the bracket for “snapping” adjustment. Snapping adjustment will decrease the precision of the adjustment, but will increase a positive lock to resist against unauthorized adjustment due to firing vibrations.

If anyone has any feedback on the idea I would appreciate it greatly.

AEG's / Re: Rail System Headache
« on: June 03, 2013, 02:46:37 PM »
Thanks Spazz.

I ended up buying a junkyard S-System that I am going to part out. The RIS needs replacing anyway since the "tooth" that snaps into the D-Ring to keep it stable was broken off when I received it. It also was a bit cheaper than trying to buy aftermarket RIS or receivers. I'll bug Chuck to see if he wants to try his hand at re-threading the upper. If he can make it all work, then I'll have a banged up back-up for use/sale.

AEG's / Rail System Headache
« on: May 28, 2013, 01:15:35 PM »
So I traded for a JG S-System M4 and I love the look of the gun, and finally have it purring like a dream. I quickly learned that changing the rail system is a nightmare, but now I'm at a crossroads. Apparently the two female holes allowing the rail to stabilize to the upper receiver are stripped. I need to know if there is some form of a fix or am I due for a new upper receiver? If that's the case, would anyone know if I need to specifically hunt down an S-System part or any M4 should do?

Lastly, would anyone know where I could get an M4 shell, preferably with a one piece outer barrel with as much metal as possible throughout the frame?

Thanks,

Welcome to the community. It will be a privilege and an honor to play with you out at the fields. Thank you for everything you do for this country and its people.

Spring Power!! / L96 Ideas and Innovative Mods
« on: May 14, 2013, 03:17:06 PM »
I'm a proud owner if a new (somewhat) L96 Springer Rifle. Previous owner states current FPS of 410 w/ .40g King Arms BBs. (That's 580 w/.2g or 520 w/.25). He stated it has a metal piston and spring guide. It sports a threaded adapter for 14mm counterclockwise, but stock barrel. I will have a 6.03mm tight-bore in it shortly which will run to the tip of the adapter. Since this is previously owned with a history, I assume the trigger sear is a higher quality to handle that spring tension, but I read that component will commonly break with use regardless. I would like to purchase a mock suppressor/flash hider, but only for aesthetic purposes - something short. I plan to make my own barrel spacers out of wrapped tape to stabilize the inner barrel and I am contemplating filling the stock with an insulation compound to dampen sound (past forums suggest expanding foam, but I'm thinking some packing foam cut to fit would also work with less mess).

This thread is to get an opinion on some of the modifications and upgrades I should be making to get optimum performance and reliability out of it. Since some of the threads I've already read are several years old, I'd like to revive the subject for new ideas and current mods/upgrades.

What other suggestions and ideas do the rest of you have?

[Edit]: I also need a suggestion for an outer barrel that has some play in rotation. I'd like to avoid taping it to the stock (as seen in Battlefield 3), or gluing it in place. I'd like the impact to take-down to be minimal.

Go green, tan is locked out.

Oh man, I was working at the nuke by MTT when they mentioned the lockdown that day. That was you?! Crazy small world. I was surprised personally when I went to MTT and saw how close it was to the nuke. Bad placement in my personal opinion, but fun field.
