My Painted Gat!
« on: February 10, 2005, 05:07:53 PM »
No M203, no QD suppressor, and a little new paint.
Ain't she cute?

Shooting a decent 380 fps, but that'll be closer to 400 by the time I'm done with it.  Right now I have the following installed in the mechbox (Systema unless otherwise noted):
-M120 spring
-Teflon M16 full cylinder
-Steel Helical Torque-Up Gears
-Guarder Polycarbonate Piston
-Silent Piston Head set w/ cylinder head
-Steel bushings
-Guarder Reinforced Tappet plate
-6.04mm Tightbore barrel
-Bearing spring guide

I have a PDI 170 and Air Seal nozzle to be added to the mix, and thrown into a CA reinforced mechbox.

On the outside, theres:
-Hurricane Aluminum reciever (with metal hopup unit)
-Commander Reinforced Aluminum Convertible barrel (lighter than the Guarder steel unit)
-Freedom Art Sebine Rail
-Guarder AN/PEQ-2 with 1700 mAh 9.6v packs (2)
-G&P Aimpoint
-G&P L-Mount (Aimpoint "Rail Grabber" type)
-TM Knights type rear flip-up sight

ROCK SOLID! 8)

Looks good man.  What purpose does the sebine rail serve?  Just to stabilize the RIS or did you want to up the aimpoint height some? Rick

Don't give him a big head... it looks alright...  ;)

But seriously, the brown in the scheme looks too outta place almost but that could just be because of the background.  It might blend in better when she is out in the wilderness.

It's purpose it twofold.  It helps stabilize my RIS.  It screws into the top of the RIS (where those 3 threaded holes are), and clamps to the sides of the rail on the upper reciever like any riser mount would.  It also provides an uninterrupted rail to mount accessories on, that acts like a riser mount.

And I think it looks cool.

I hate to break it to ya, but it takes alot more than a compliment to make my "head" swell.   With regards to the brown, it just looks funny in the pic due to the cinderblock background.  The majority of the rifle is tan (since thats the best color for the areas we play), but I didn't want to make it ALL tan since it wouild create a silhouette.  The brown serves to break up the outline, and the green is thrown in for a little variation.  (With the exception of the post-monsoon season, BT and other fields are predominantly shades of brown with all the woody-stemmed bushes and such.  Using alot of green may look neat, but I've found that it's not as practical.)  You'll note that the only Black left on the rifle is in areas that are covered, ie the pistol grip and foregrip.  The stock tube is also black because it is usually covered by the stock.  With regard to the magazines, I think painted mags look silly.

That's my "Armory Number".  Raith and a few of us have painted numbers on our rifles to simulate armory numbers.  It's kind of silly I suppose, but why not.

I don't know about you guys, but my rifles are numbered so I can keep track of them.  I own forty six other M4s just like the one in the photos you guys see.  :P

Looks very good, Andy!

I wouldn't call it "jackin", though.  The thread IS about painted rifles.

With regard to those lens covers, try painting them.  It will flake off if you use heavy cotas, but a ighter spray can be applied and will stay on  for awhile.

I was thinkin about that earlier today, I will try "dusting" it tomorrow if I get a chance, as well as the rubber battery caps. As soon as GREG MCCLENDON gives back my other AP cover we will be good, thanks Christian.

When I first applied the brown over the khaki it looked alot like yours, but It needed some OD so what I did was add a lil OD to wherever brown was, its very brown/khaki in person and doesnt appear OD at all.
