What are magpulls for. I really don't know, but everyone seems to have them so I was wondering if I need some.

It's not funny, and hasn't been for weeks. The time it took you to write that shit you could have just explained it. It's a legit question.

OP:

Magpul is actually the name of a company.  The produce various parts for real rifles that many people here use such as stocks, foregrips, pistol grips, mags, and other accessories. The thing you are referring to are these, http://store.magpul.com/product/51/13.

They essentially go on the bottom of a magazine. Normal airsoft M4 mags are smaller than the real counterparts, so the mags often sink into the pouches. If one is wearing gloves, it becomes a real bi*ch to get them out quickly. You'll see many of the more experience players use them for this, and various other reasons.

No, its not funny, and in the time it took him to type that question, he could have googled it. Its not brain surgery as to what a "mag pull" does. If he had asked, "Hmm, I am slightly confused about the purpose and products of Magpul, industries, could anyone who has used them give me a suggestion as to how they held up, improved your play, and acted in your use of them?" Then I would have answered. But something as small as the purpose of a Magpul cannot only be answered by using the search bar, but by also utilizing the great and powerful forces of google.

It took me less than 30sec to find the function of a magpul on google search.

Sorry if i come across as a dick, but people who dont even take the time to utilize the research tools available to them, before filling up the forum with useless 1-2 line questions annoy the heck out of me....

***Here: Case and point.
The ops first line: "What are magpuls for?" When typed into google, provided a few good explanations for the purpose of a magpul out there. Seriously.  There was absolutely zero need for this post to occur.

I use magpuls on my magazines. They work well as long as you secure them to the mag. Most people use some kind of tape. I used a small dab of super glue. The magpuls tent to come off otherwise, specially in the heat because the rubber expands.

Your right which is why you must use critical thinking and reasoning to filter all the BS. Magpuls are really a preference item on the airsoft field. Gearbox Airsoft in Tempe carries magpuls so i suggest going down there to try them out for your self. They aren't very expensive.

Another less costly but less visually pleasing is duct tape and small rope like shoe lace. tie a water knot on both ends of the rope then tape the rope to your mag making a loop.

Or get some 550 para cord, and use that mil-green tape for a real SF look, at a cheap price.

If your asking how well they preform, I personally use magpuls for all of my rifle mags, Minus the 249 box......

They help keep the mags easy to reach, they look great, and I find they prevent metal airsoft mags from rubbing excessively in pouches, causing less noise, and preserving the mag paint, if thats something that you care about, some do, others like the "used" look on there mags.

and of course, you can just use tape to make the loops, as well.

I've found that hockey grip-tape works exceedingly well for this purpose. The loops will fall flat after a while if you just use tape though... so I actually use tape over paracord. Looks very clean and finished, and as I use VN mags, I can't have a 2" section of duct tape or similar around the bottom of the mag, the grip tape is only about 3/4 of an inch.

Regardless of looks, it works.

What I did with metal M4 mags is cut a 4 inch piece of 550 cord, and gut it.  Tie a knot in each end and slide your magazine floor plate off.  Insert the knots between the mag body and the plastic insert (the part that holds the BBs inside the magazine), and slide the floor plate back on.  It will leave a small loop of cord at the bottom of your magazine to grab them out of your mag pouch.

Not that it matters a whole lot, but the "Real SF look!" Is more of my extended sarcasm, my advice was genuine, but the "Real SF look!" thing is a joke in the same manner as "New car smell!" promises, as many times airsofters value look over function. I used to be very bad about this :)

No matter how you do it, as long as it works, thats the point, thats why these things started in the first place.

Yes. 550 Paracord is great for some original magpuls.

Magpul's and similar things do make it easier to pull the mag out, but can also add bulk to the magazine and not fit in pouches ot get caught on gear. See how it will work with your gear and how you actually play before blowing money on a magazine enhancement because they can get pricey adding them all up especially if you have alot of mags on your rig.

They will also protect your mags if they fall on hard surfaces when dropped from a mag well.
