DOH!!!! someone good with TM mp5's
« on: June 26, 2005, 05:38:58 PM »
Well yesterday was my first airsoft game in a couple of years. My gun before shot 370fps because of upgrades. At the game it chrono'ed at 280, my spring must have been compressed for a long time. Anyways I went to jungle toy and got a m120 spring to put in. I had done the previous upgrades(spring, metal bushings, and tight-bore barrel) myself with no problem so I figured I could do it again. Boy was I wrong. To make a long story short my gun does not shot now and I have a couple of extra screws(never a good sign). I do not really want to take it apart again and redo it. Is there anyone near the tempe area which knows a lot about the TM mp5 or gearboxes in general. I will compensate for time working on it.

Well, first off, doesn't shoot doesn't accurately describe the issue.  ;)

What exactly is going on?  Do you hear the pop of the piston slamming forward?  Does it just make a whinning noise?  Do BB's roll out of the barrel?  Symptoms are very important in the diagnosis.  :)

It may sound funny... but did you hook the motor back up and are the wires connected?

Because one should learn how to take care of one's own gun.  ;)

Hell , team B.O.S. has to work on 3 ics mp5s, if the TM is the same it should be a quick fix.

SIC-bishop repaired half our AEGs. But Reaver's right "one should know and repair their own weapon".

First off the ics and tm mp5 are similar but not the same. any one who has worked with a tm and any other airsoft gun knows that tm are the best guns to upgrade if you are a begginer. it sounds like you did not pull back the anti reverse latch and the shimming is all wrong. like reaver said one should learn to take care of ones gun. you should first find out what shimming works with your gun. to do this you might want to take the spring out and put in your gears and shim them in diffrent sets and spin them with out a spring and if they move alot adjust the shimming if they move a little then there are good. and make sure that you pull the anti reverse latch all back because if its forward i will cause your gun to jam. good luck and try. TM's are the best aeg'sto learn with.

I have a problem with my MP5 to...
« Reply #10 on: September 09, 2005, 05:20:44 PM »
Well, here is my problem  :( . My MP5 (Tokyo Mauri High Grade) isn't working. The motor tries to engage to gears but then it stops once it begins to touch them. I think it might need a new motor but I bought it used (that is not a good thing to do). It is upgraded to a 340 FPS w/ .25 (that is what the guy said but since I got it broken I have never been able to try it). Can some one tell me if it is just worth selling to someone as a parts gun? Or should I get it fixed (says it also has a lot of upgrades in it to) I have taken it appart and everything works in the mec  box but once you put the spring and motor it won't work.

P.S. It won't let my post my own topic so I might as well post it in a place where some one already has a problem.

What size battery are you using? A stronger spring would require at least a 9.6v to have it operate normally. I ran an MP5 for a while and had the same probalo, putting a bigger battery (or a fully charged one)  fixed the issue.

I used a power supply and ran it on a 9.6 but it still didn't work? Would the EG700 be able to handle a 10.6? I don't think it would need it I think I would need a new motor.

A powersupply may not be able to source the necessary current.
