I've yet to tear into the lower gear box on one of these so I can't say.  I do know from what TAZ has told me that they can't use standard AEG gears which sucks.  So unless someone is making upgraded gears for these guns then I'd be careful with how high you upgrade them else you suffer the same fate as Screwloose.

I've been pumping a sh!tload of .20s through my ICS M4 with an upgraded upper from airsoftgi and none of my gears have stripped yet.  I ain't sayin it won't happen though cause I've already had to replace my tappet plate and anti-reversal latch!  Heheh.  What are "standard AEG gears"?  TM sh!t?

By "standard AEG gears" I meant your normal type of gears that fit a version 2,3 4,5 6 gear box.  The ICS M4 gears apparently have different dimentions.

ICS M4 making a strange gear grinding sound
« Reply #18 on: June 19, 2004, 02:09:28 PM »
My poor ICS has had the upper mechbox pulled apart and put back together no less than 20 times in the last 2 days and I can't seem to get it shooting at 400 FPS.  Whenever I get the right internals in there to boost it up, it starts to make a wierd sound like gears spinning and not catching on anything.  Or even worse like they are grinding on something.  I have not messed with the lower mech box, only the upper.

Any ideas?
