lancer tactical?
« on: July 15, 2012, 03:02:04 PM »
So we need guns to re-arm ourselves and our new comrades, but money is obviously a little tight. We have some good guns, but we are trying to gain loaner guns and guns for ourselves to use while we save for better things. So we've been thinking about these Lancer Tacticals. I've been doing research on them, and as far as internals, they seem great. And I know that the externals are plastic (just talking about the M4 types) but what I want to know is just HOW plasticy they feel. Is it unbearably plastic, or sturdy enough plastic? There also seems to be a shortage of youtube videos that answer this.

After doing some research to help you out, here is what i gathered, i would say that this gun is getting 50/50 reviews i go on sites that say its amazing in accuracy and power, range is nice too, and then im also reading that some people saying that its not worth it, but the funny thing is they don't seem to tell me why not to buy this, but according to a Godfather airsoft review of it, they do say it is durable. Good luck

Thanks for that. That was the problem I had, that no one talked much about the durability. I did see a ASGI stress test though. That seemed to show that it could take a decent beating, but I wanna know how it feels.

How tight is your money? My friend has an Echo-1 troy and it works great. Even though I personally despise plastic weapons, his is actually pretty durable. They start at around $200. And Echo-1 has sturdy internals as well.

+1 on this. My first AEG was an Echo 1 M4 with a plastic body, and the thing lasted forever. In fact, the internals gave out long after tons of use and abuse, but the externals still looked nearly brand new. If there ever was a gun I'd trust with plastic external quality, it's E1. That said, there is a considerable price difference between that and the Lancer if your budget is rather squished at the moment.

We kind of pool our resources for airsoft. Currently, so tight that it's LTs or stuff on here that's cheap. Our budget is around $200 total. Thing is, I no longer have any kind of AEG and one of his needs work. That's why we're looking to try and get 2 guns. Once I find a job and can get a better gun (looking hard at the JG M4 S-System, heard a lot of good things) whatever we get now will become loner guns.

You are hard pressed to beat G&G's Combat Machines for the price.  You can get a pair of them for $250 shipped.  I'd really recommend trying to scrape up the extra $50.  Also, when reading reviews you have to keep the reviewers perspective in mind.  What other guns has he owned to compare to?  If he's only used Walmart grade guns than yeah, sure, this will probably seem amazing to him.

I'd have to agree with Mace on this one. It will be very hard to beat G&G's Combat Machines. They have been on the market longer and with that comes many reviews for them. I know ASGI and a few other retailers are promoting Lancer Tactical but I would venture to guess that it's being promoted to the newer players on a very tight budget. I would save up the few extra bucks and purchase the Combat Machines instead. I've owned a few of them and I love them. Compared to my "pro" line G&G M16 and KWA SR10, they can perform right up there with those two rifles with very little upgrading.

G&G is also considering making metal bodied Combat Machine's.  I just got a pre-production model in for review and I should have some initial tidbits up next weekend.

From what I have heard is that Lancer is so-so. Play it safe and grab a G&G combat machine. Only thing negative I really hear is that the motor heats up easily.

I think ASGI already has the metal bodied Combat Machine's on their website. From what they say it has a 120 spring in it along with a metal body. I don't know if there is any other difference.

Yeah, right now they are a limited production run while G&G gauges interest.  A quick look at the one they sent me shows a similar receiver to their Advanced series.
