Post by: Renengan on February 22, 2011, 03:25:53 PM
which brand is better in general? FYI: leaning towards CA for its larger battery compatibility.

Battery capacity should be the same regardless of brand.

Nope. Based on my research, CAs are the only M249s on the market that can hold a larger 8.4v

My CA M249 MKII fits a large type 9.6v. I have never used an Echo 1, but mine runs great.

If you really did your research you'ld know you'll eventually ditch the crappy box mag that comes with the E1, replace it with a nutsack style mag and lose more than half of your battery CAPACITY. That is unless you step it up and run Lipo's.

I've got the Echo 1 M249. The inside of the stock is narrow and won't fit large batteries. Small types and lipos fit just fine.

You'll be much happier. Now I know a lot of folks that are happy with their E1's and A&K's, heck I'd buy one for the right price but the CA is top notch. However I do recommend a nut sack MAG for any of them. The stock box is pretty bulky and somewhat cumbersome.

I know you didn't mention A&K but their M249s are decent but they can't hold anything larger than a small 8.4v. The CAs are great and hold larger batteries so I would go for one of them

The CA's have a heck of a ROF. I don't know about battery space.

If you have the money.  Get the CA.  Mine has been a solid performer.  Also, I frequently see used A&K and Echo M249 for sale but rarely a CA.  That should tell you something.
