Not in it to make money....

Interested in joining Marauders Airsoft?  Visit www.marauders.us and learn how you can become part of the most active airsoft team in AZ.  Team members get access to special events, training, and equipment at discounted prices.  Team membership is currently $200.  Membership price will be raised on May 1 to $500.  While this increase is significant, membership will increase to $3000* in July at the projected opening of the MTT UAC.

$3k, WTF?????  Bunch of tools making money off kids

3k is ridiculous, no doubt, however, I would counter with the following: The Island is gonna be mind blowing.  Its like, yeah.  Serious tacticalness.  I just wonder how they are gonna get any players.  I mean come on!  3000$?  Thats nothing.  This is North Scottsdale.  My tree-house is valued at 2.3 million dollars, and that was before the re-model.  This is prime **** holmes.

EDIT: I don't have a tree-house.

If you understood the effort and everything that is going into the new feild you would understand why the price is as it is. Once the new feild opens I am sure that you will want to go, but you will have a bigger price to pay, because by then it will go up to the $3000.

At first, I thought the price tag was a joke.

Then I realized it wasn't.

And I'm laughing even harder.

i talked to pilz at JT about how they also have to pay for insurance also cause you can be under 18 and go there. so if someone gets hurt they have to pay insurance. that is why they are thriving cause alot of other place you have to be over 18 so they have no responsiblilty towards you cause u can legally make your own decisions

The high price tag might make the Marauders a prestigious group to join, although admittedly I can't say I've ever thought of the Marauders team as the Gucci or Ferrari of airsoft.  I'm not sure what is included in Marauder membership, however, methinks shiny high-quality and exclusive items would have to added to the mix to make it seem worth it.  If I could imagine having to choose between an Apple Mabook Pro, Blowjob in Thailand (airfare included), or Marauders membership, I would probably not choose the last option.

But honestly, could they think of no better way to pay for it?  Fundraising or something?

Actually, I guess if Scottsdale moms are willing to pony up the $200 for current membership, $600 for an AK with a C-mag and scope, and another $200 for gear, then who cares about $3000.  It costs that much to fill the H3 up!

And "tacticalness"?  Are you being serious?

Well if you look at their website, it basically says that they have heard everyone's complaints about cheating, etc, and have decided to fix the problem, by turning public airsoft into a members only club.  Here's the link if you don't believe me.

Just my two cents, but I think they are making a really bad choice.  They want to focus on training law enforcement, and military.  Well if that actually happens more power to them, but I'm not holding my breath. The marauders just shot themselves in the foot.

From their new blog;

Fact number 5: If you think charging $3000 for entry into our field is outrageous, then you obviously aren't are target demographic.  This new higher price is geared towards people over 21, with real incomes, and can recognize the value of team membership and the use of a multimillion dollar facility on a year round basis.  We are comfortable with the 100 or so core players who participate currently with Marauders Airsoft, and any new additions will now have to pony up the dough to compensate us (as well as you) for all the work and effort we have put into this concept. It is you who has made this game successful and rewarding, and I would hate to see newbies walk in and take advantage of everything we have accomplished without making the sacrafices we all have peformed over past year or two.

Looks like the 18th will be my last Marauders game. Fun while it lasted but it seems it's time to go with AA.

Well, see, right now, the pressure is on to get people to buy in at 1/15th what it will cost in a few months so they can rustle up some cash to build all these cinder block buildings. What you get for $200 is a pretty good deal, but it ceases being a good deal at $3000. The uniform angle is nothing fancy, it's just a wholesale account with Truspec. The gun you'll get for free is probably some piece of shit CYMA AK. While those are OK, they're like $75. The best 'bonus' of this whole job is you get free admission to a national OP, and if you were smart, you'd pick Irene to leverage the most financial value (I think it was $225 for non-vets, and, if you're paying any money or credence to this movement, you are DEFINITELY NOT A LION CLAWS SERIES VETERAN).

Really, it's just silly, but I think the $3,000 idea is GREAT. It does three things for me :

a) Gets rid of retarded Marauders Airsoft game posts. We all know the angle. There's the gay team and the cool team. Gay team has lax requirements so anybody can sign up, but it costs more. The cool team is for people who at least pretend to be airsofters, but you have to do training which costs more, as a hidden cost. This way, the cool team appears on paper to be less than the gay team, but it's really more (reference the new Operation : West Wing, I think Rangers end up being $10 more). Unfortunately, the training modules do not include 'calling hits' or 'getting your driver's license'. Don't even get me started on AIRSOFT SNIPER TRAINING. Does that one teach you how to shoot UP TO AND OVER...TWO HUNDRED FEET?! The only one I've ever heard get a positive review from ANYBODY that MATTERED was the IED training. Hence, that never gets done anymore.

b) Curbs the influx. This is a SoCal problem that has been hitting Arizona.

c) Finally shows the current crop of people what this is all about. Nothing wrong with making money. Business is great. Manipulation isn't. Marauders Airsoft like, 2 years ago was kinda cool, and then it devolved into like, the Fiddlesticks of airsoft, except without minigolf, laser tag, Initial D, DDR, or any of the cool cabinets that people over the age of 15 like playing.

PS -- MULTIMILLION DOLLAR? Multihundred dollar, maybe. It's being built in an unincorporated area near Tonopah. That land probably cost like $20,000. Unless you build the Scottsdale Gun Club out there or China finally defeats us in this economic war we're pitched in, please, remember, million has six zeroes (coincidentally, so does the number of people who will pay $3,000 to play airsoft there -- it just doesn't have any numbers in front of it) and multi means more than one (as in, bad ideas hatched by this brain trust).
