Accessories & Gear / Mag Pouch Retention
« on: October 17, 2005, 10:03:33 PM »
I know I had a thread for this way, way back, but I would like to reword it. I was wondering what everyone thought the best retention would be. I would create a poll, but theres so many options. I just wanted some ideas, good ideas on what to do for retention.

An idea I had, that Ron and I shared, is like T.H.E. wallet, where you get the shark bite. It's a strong hold, and is silent as could be. But, it would need to be made for only one height of mag pouch. If it was made for real mags, it wouldn't have enough retention on airsoft mags, and vice versa. I know people like Christian, Matt and etc have good ideas. LET EM OUT!

Irene Spot! $50

Delta, no shit. You'd leave about wednesday-friday. The $50 includes gas, and the game. NOT the hotel room.

Right now, Jeremiah has the spot. I told him to PM me, and maybe he can post it on here if he can't go. PM me if you wanna be next on this miniature waiting list!

There was something I thought everyone here should read. It changed quite a few of my views and opinions. I was going to post it in the AA Members section, but after talking it over with Greg, like I said, everyone should get the opportunity to read it. But, be warned, it's a long read. Except, it's extremely worth it when you're through.

My favorite part is about the sheep, sheepdog and wolf. It says so many things I thought of, but could never put into my own words.

I also forgot to say, the article has harsh language. Try not to be offended buy it.

Accessories & Gear / Diamondback Tactical Has MULTICAM!
« on: August 22, 2005, 01:43:26 AM »
Well, DBT has multicam, I'm sure all of you know.. and, I still don't have a catalogue. But, no-one was sure how long it would take to update the site.

But, that's ok. Because, they updated their site, just now, with new rigs, new pouches, and best of all..

It all comes in Multicam.

Not sure if it's news, or anything. But, I thought you'd like to know.

I gave up buying a CASV-EL that Matt showed me for a Multicam E&E (With MOLLE), and an Assaulters Pistol Belt. Maybe more, not sure.

Beautiful [smilie=armata_pdt_09.gif]

And maybe some of us Irene dudes can use this..

::Warning::

Ok, what the hell. Those are US soldiers, and that dog didn't look like it was doing anything horribly wrong. What the hell is that about?

I like dogs.

Well.. so my friend thinks.

Ok, so this kid at my school, I've known him since the 7th grade. He's always been up for SEAL training, and NAVY. We got into the topic about gear, and I joked around about "wear Multicam for your training". And, he pointed a few things out.
He will only wear black, because all other colors aren't needed.. besides his 'green' flight suit (Maybe a forest green?  ;)). And all of his 'tac' gear is black, at the moment. I asked, 'Why not Coyote Brown, or Camel Tan? Even OD!". And, he said none of those, because.. black will blend in against a building at night, and the other colors still aren't needed! And then, I offered to let him borrow my OD CIRAS when I get my hands on it. I explained to him what it is. He pointed out a few things.

1. Armour is stupid for his line of work (hostage rescue), because it's too heavy.
2. He'd only maybe borrow it if it was black.
3. The releasable feature is stupid.

Now, there were a few people around. A few kids all dressed in black.. and theres me with Khaki pants and an orange shirt. So out of place! Anyways, they all agreed that black was good, because it DOES blend in against a dark building at night, and it's "a cool color!". They were all like.. emo and stuff, too. So, go figure! "I'd be the emo soldier!" I mean.. won't almost any color blend in against a building at night?

And, now.. theres about 8 people that make fun of me, because I stress that theres a difference between..

Green and OD, or Ranger Green
Tan and Camel Tan
Khaki and MJK
Brown and Dark Chocolate Brown (in Multicam)
Brown and Coyote Brown.

Hell, even my brother is making fun of me.

RANT! [smilie=armata_pdt_09.gif]

Accessories & Gear / Multicam webbing, and mag pouch length.
« on: June 21, 2005, 03:25:33 AM »
Ok, this isn't to show off my gear, but.. rather of what everyone thinks is better. I think they both kick ass, but.. I guess I need a nudge from everyone else to tip me in ANY direction.

I'm working on a total custom rig right now, and I can't make my mind up on one thing..

I have OD webbing, because Eagle was dumb and sent me 50 yards of the wrong webbing.. I ordered their Khaki, because Matts rig that he sold me was downright kickass with that webbing. So, does the OD webbing look ok over the pouches? It sorta sticks out, just a bit. Or, is it worth the BITCHING HARD work and fabric to roll the webbing over it? The webbing rolled in MC does cause one tiny problem, it makes the pouches stiff as a rock. Heres the pic of some of the mag pouches I've experimented with so far..

Also, another thing that comes to my attention. Those mags stick up pretty far for airsoft mags, eh? Well.. about 4 people gave me the idea on the forum to make the mags stick up further, because the real steel mags are about an inch taller, so.. make the pouches an inch shorter, or the mags up an inch more. I've done that with all mine. And, they all have velcro on the inside for TONS of retention options.. they're basically unlimited. But, the point of mentioning the velcro is this..

If I made the mag pouches the same size as real mag pouches,I could make a velcro strap (Like I saw on another forum, not my idea) that extends from one side of the mag pouch to the other side, and boosts the mag up an inch higher..

What's the feedback?!

Edit: And if you mention the webbing on the middle mag pouch fuckup.. I'll kill you.

Edit#2: The OD webbing isn't as pictured.. it looks grey in the pics. I guess you need to see it in person, but it matches pretty well. For those of you that have wasatches (Drag handle), or Eagle gear.. check any OD webbing.. it'll be the same.

Accessories & Gear / Multicam BDU's
« on: June 04, 2005, 05:56:04 PM »
Ok, I want some MC BDU's super bad. Heres my options..

http://graywolftradingco.com/mcart/inde ... e=1&cat=17
Graywolf MC top, for $70. I can get that right now, but does anyone have any background information on them? I've heard mixed ideas about the company.

http://www.icetactical.com/
Wait till' ICE opens their MC line, sometime soon. Again, any information?

http://www.dropzonetactical.com/clothing/opsset.html
Dropzone Tac's "OP Series" bdu's for.. more than Cryes even. I heard they're ok, and worth it though.

And the obvious.. wait till' my Crye comes in. I'm thinking, even if I DO get Crye bdu's after they make them, I'll probly end up trying other brands as well.

I was looking around TorrentSpy, and stumbled upon this, which I thought was as funny as it gets..

Quote
Beggers In Minneapolis May Be Forced To Wear ID Cards

The police chief wants to license panhandlers, saying it would make it easier for officers to manage aggressive begging in Minnesota's largest city. Under the plan, panhandlers would have to register each year at a government center and have their picture taken. Anyone failing to wear an ID badge would be jailed for 30 days, and possibly fined.

"The idea is not to penalize people or make them go away," Chief William McManus said Wednesday. "It's just a way to govern how they conduct their business." Minneapolis already bans panhandling in front of cash machines, bus stops and restrooms. McManus said he's talked to the City Council about the idea. If a law passed, the city would join a handful of others that license beggars, such as Cincinnati, Dallas and Greensboro, N.C.

Cincinnati's licensing ordinance is being challenged by civil liberties groups that claim begging is protected speech. Mayor R.T. Rybak said he's not sure he'll support the plan. "I'm interested in looking at innovative ways to handle this, but we need to know more about the details," he said. Robert Yellow Wolf, a homeless man panhandling on an interstate off-ramp, called the plan "ridiculous," but said: "When you're homeless, you have no say."

Thanks to Scienott for this great article.

That's funny stuff. And for the hell of it, heres some other funny and stupid laws..

According to a law in China, you must be intelligent to go to college

In Staten Island, New York, You may only water your lawn if the hose is held in your hand.

In the fine state of Nebraska, it is not legal for a tavern owner to serve beer unless a nice kettle of soup is also brewing.

In Zion, Illinois, it is illegal for anyone to give cats, dogs, or other domesticated animals a lighted cigar.

I know someone might say this was a pointless thread, but.. I thought it had to be shared, because I'm as bored as it gets around here.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Screwed up world..
« on: March 11, 2005, 10:22:31 PM »
Ok, I work at Albertsons, if you didn't know. Now, every day is the standard routine.. help customers, bag crud, and do carts. Today was odd, Justin (My brother) was slacking off on carts, so my manager and I had to help. We were bringing in carts and I guess there was a kid in a hoodie that passed by.. and no-one noticed. Then, I go to help bag and I hear "Gimme your ****in phone! Your friends just robbed me! I'm callin the cops!.." followed by other stuff.

I walk by the lady while she's on the phone, and I hear "Yeah.. they were armed. They took my purse..." and then I was out of hearing range. Then, my other manager, Summer comes by and said "Did you see them?" I said "Nope, did you?" "Yeah.. kids had to be 10 years old. PRobly under 100lb!" So, the cops come, and do the standard thing, watch the tapes, etc. Then they all see the kid pass by Justin and Justin gives a slight description. Then they see him pass by me, and I say "Who would I be to notice a 10 year old? Theres dozens of them!" Then they correct me, "Sir.. he was 12." And so on and so on.

Now, the question is.. how does a 12 year old get a gun and steal his friends moms belongings at gunpoint with another friend? What a screwed up world!

Sorry if it's off topic, but then again.. the threads in the right place, and I thought it'd be nice to share what happened.. which is.. bizzarre.

.. nuts!
