I would suggest that you pick a style of rifle first, like AK, M4, M16, G36, etc. Then, Look at what brand makes that particular gun best within your price range. This will also help others give better suggestions to you as they can be more specific. Next, I suggest reading a bunch of reviews or watching them on youtube. This will help you compare different brands and models of the same gun. Echo 1 re-brands most (if not all) of thier guns. This means the OEM (original manufacturer) is another company. I'm an AK fan and would suggest CYMA as a brand for AK beginners. My CM.050 is such a beast! Echo1 re-brands a few of CYMA's guns like the AK covert( it is the CYMA.050a). For M4, a bit more expensive brand would be kwa, but they are nice! I have looked at those G&G's with some interest as well, but have not used one personally. The best way to get quality suggestions that are relevant would be to tell us what you like and be as specific as possible reguarding price range and other details.

it has been proven in history that for a group to survive its government must be over thrown from time to time. my fear is that this will come to our lands way to soon.

There's plenty wrong with JG. They're cheap... and there's a reason for it.

Low quality internals and externals, high lemon rates, very low qc.

So what would you recommend? I for one am quite satisfied with my gun, though I do agree that the eternals could be a lil better.

JG is a fine company. My JG is a 2010 model, so perhaps better than some older models. It has excellent steel externals and with some gearbox tuning it shoots very well-has a bearing in the gearbox. My only compaint is it had a plastic hop up chamber. The model is the JG AS74U electric blowback. ~$150 and worth every penny if you like AKs.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "very good". I would say decent and generally a good starter platform.

echo-1/JG are good starter brands, you'll get a feel for the sport and the equipment without spending good money on higher end products. but i wouldnt expect a lifetime of play out of either manufacturer's weapons. nor would i expect the highest quality. low prices mean low QC/QA, and not the best external/internal parts.

once you get comfortable with whichever weapon platform you choose, then you can move on to the higher end items, since by then you should have an idea on how to treat your rifle and its various attachments/equipment, how to maintain the rifle and equipment, etc...

btw, seeing your name spelled with two e's is very strange ;) mine is spelled with an o instead of the second e

What do you guys think of the A&K m249mkII SAW, vs the Echo 1 m60? I want one of the two, I love both gun styles by I want the one that's more durable and has better performance. Please reply, and Heckler I hope you don't mind me using your post to help myself out as well seeing as your topic has replies now.

They are essentially the same gearbox underneath the body shell. I would get the 249 because more people have aftermarket parts and accessories for them. Also more players have them where you could get another one for parts. The 249 stock mags will break, they just do that. The m60 mags are nicer but the weight is off center.

(this review is incredably dumb, but showcases the two guns side by side)
