Do not get star mags, just get TM standard mags and do not worry about it. Raith was selling a few last time I checked. I run about 8-12 TM stadards in a game and I never run out, too many get a bit heavy. Some guys run a couple of standards and a few hicaps for those long engagements, but you need to figure out what is best for you. Just do not get star mags.

Are STARs bad mags? I'm confused at this point because I've heard people say yes and no.

It is a yes and no answer depending on who you ask. If you are the kind of person who dosen't mind reloading all the time and wants to save a few bucks on mags and realy wants to go for the 30rnd real deal mag capacity then you would probly be pro-star mags. I prefer TM's and decline starmags because I like my mags to look like real mags and I have ranger plates on all my mags which you can't do on a star mag. I think 68 rnds is good enough considering that airsoft guns are not as accurate and I would be taking fewer shots with a real gun anyway. I have herd few complaints about the function of star mags, but most complaints are centered around the reloading chore that they are. If you want my opinion, don't waste your time and just get TM standards, but if you want to try them out go ahead and see if you like them. And also TM standards hold their value very well for an airsoft item.

Reloading doesn't seem that big a problem to me. My cheapy rifle has 40 round mags and it really doesn't bother me. In my opinion it adds a bit to the realism aspect. From a amouint of ammo standpoint, I've never been out of ammo, Sandstorm ws the the only time I ever thought I ran out. But that was because I forgot about one of my extras and I dropped my sidearm.

I carry all G&P mid-caps. I've only had one that gave me a jamming problem, and that was quickly fixed with a spring ajustment.

I wouldn't recommend Hi-caps. All the ones I have don't feed worth crap anymore.

Realism in airsoft = no go.
I think double the ammo of what the real thing has is perfect..you need a few shots to hit someone for the average airsofter. Get some TM standards. They are tough as sh*t and will always feed.

I was looking at a package with two 130 round G&P mags and a speed loader. Everyone seems to like the TM mags, but how do the G&Ps compate to them? The package is HERE

Also how do the mid caps compare with the low caps, seen people mentioning a misfeed with them. I imagine its due to the spring config in the mid caps, but is that a common thing to happen?

Edited the slang... my bad

You can get them at airsoft atlanta for $17ea, and a speed loader at Jungle toy is only $7...

Do the math...probably not.

They're not a problem. Just don't put exactly 130rounds in them, I ussually put 100-110. Not the max they can hold, but it prevents jamming and you still get more out of them than the TM mags. Also, it you do have a jam with one of them take the mag apart and cut off 1/4 of an inch off the spring; and that'll fix it permanently.

Does anyone know about or used the Classic Army M16 68rd Standard Magazines? Came across them HERE and since I am using a CA rifle thought it might save me a few bucks if they any good.

Thank you for any information.

I just bought some STAR mags, the only problem with them is that towards the end of the firing cycle, the last few rounds won't fire in semi-auto, necessitating the need for me to switch to full auto to get them out. Also on my ICS M4, I needed to put two strips of duct tape on the portion of the magwell closest to the trigger, this seemed to solve the feeding problem for me. If you get worried about not having enough, then just tape two together like Private Cowboy did in Full Metal Jacket ;)
