Thank you all who made Red Sleigh Down 13 a huge success!  This year was bigger and better then any year before and it's a direct result of YOU!

Here it is by the numbers!  1 truck stuffed full of toys.  It came out to be 5 shopping carts full of toys!  $59 in cash donations for more toys!  On top of that we counted 172 attendees!  Like I said the biggest year yet!  Give yourselves a round of applause for really stepping up and supporting the USMC Toys for Tots program!

I want to thank all the staff help from the Desert Hawks for stepping up and lending a helping hand, you guys are rock!  I also want to thank all the participants who made it out to the event, time line wise everything moved smoothly and we promise to run a bigger staff next year to help with hot spots.

That all said we love to hear feedback from you guys.  We added the bonus pelican case objective and additional flags this year based off of past feedback and plan to do colored armbands for both teams and more admin staff next year based off of feedback and observations today.

Thanks once again for your support!

Hey Kiley,
I missed last year's game due to travel. I will not miss this one. I'll round up Fox Company.

Please be advised we have moved the date of Red Sleigh Down this year to 12/16/17.  It was done for two reasons.  Reason one was that another event producer had to move their event to 12/2 with no other date options available and we didn't want either event to suffer so volunteered to move the date.  The other reason is that due to National Guard and Reserve training weekends being what they are at the end of the year we wanted to make sure that our veterans were not blocked from attending and it looks like 12/16 was clear for both categories.

We sincerely apologize to those this creates a hardship or no-go situation for, that is certainly not intended.  We wanted to be as accommodating as possible to others who are trying to bring life to events.  We are looking forward to seeing many of you out on 12/16.  Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

Operation Red Sleigh Down
THE GRINCHINATOR

Desert Hawks Airsoft is proud to present the 13th annual Operation Red Sleigh Down on Saturday, December 16th 2017.  Operation Red Sleigh Down is a benefit game that raises awareness about children in need this holiday season.  Near the holiday season each year, we gather to play an organized airsoft event and fill a car with new unwrapped toys and then donate those toys to the USMC Toys For Tots program.  Please consider coming out, helping those in need, and having a good time with us while you are at it.

To see what the community was able to donate in previous years visit the below link:

Marines - RSD 2016

Scenario:
Welcome to the 2017 annual Toys of Tots charity drive “Red Sleigh Down” this year is ‘THE GRINCHINATOR’.

In the year 2029, a computer called KrampusNet is fighting against a human resistance, after having nearly destroyed Christmas in 1997. KrampusNet has found a way to send some of its warriors, called Grinches, back in time. This is the story of the Grenchinator sent back through time to 1984 to steal Christmas… and kill the resistance leader's mother the seemingly innocent Sarah Nicholas-a woman whose unborn son will lead the human race to victory in a bitter future war with a race of machines. Sarah's only hope is a soldier sent by the resistance named Charlie Brown from that post-apocalyptic war, who has chased the Terminator back through time to 1984. The question is, can Sarah Nicholas survive long enough to have her child? If the The Grinchinator succeeds, mankind is doomed. The future of Christmas depends on which one finds her first... Or winning a battlefield style airsoft game at Sasco.

...yeah it doesn’t make sense to us either, just go with it because its going to be fun… and bring a toy.

This event is by admission only.  Your admission is unwrapped toys with an equal or greater value of $10.  Cash donations are discouraged, but if you forget your items a suggested cash donation of $15 will allow the staff to purchase items in your behalf when dropping the donations off.

Special Note
Radios are not required for this event, but are HIGHLY recommended due to how the objectives are spread out and the play is fluid.  Mid cap magazines are encouraged but high cap magazines are allowed to be as inclusive as possible to all level of players.  Please also note this event is being planned as a MILSIM Battlefield type event with a fun twist.  This means that we expect limited return trips to cars and staging areas.  There will not be long breaks at any time once we are underway, and we will not be breaking for a meal.  Please be prepared to carry everything on your person that you need to play and stay on your feet, including plenty of water, spare batteries, and extra ammunition.

As has been the case for a few years now this will be a classic Battlefield style capture the flag event held at Sasco. We are looking to add additional flags this year to mix it up as well.  Additionally, to get you all in the Christmas spirit at the start of the event admin will award a few bonus points for both sides for bringing and using a Red Santa hat as a death rag!

I'll always remember Chris as having that easy going smile and being a friendly face when I was still new in the sport.  As has been said, gone but not forgotten...

These forums will not be actively monitored by Desert Hawks game staff with much frequency.  Your best source of information as it comes out such as AO photos and other promotional posts is going to be the facebook event posting.  You can find the event posting here:

We also use an RSVP system from our website at deserthawks.org for folks to sign up for a specific faction and position.  You can reach it from several enlistments links located on the event page at deserthawks.org here:

Thank you all who RSVP'd here.  I'll reconcile these with the facebook updates.  So far its looking upwards of 80 or more!  Let's hope the weather holds out so folks don't reconsider!

HPA allowed?
Mid caps only?
They aren't specifically mentioned in rules

Sorry for the delay, I dont get back to the forums very often these days, hopefully you got your answer on facebook but in case you didn't...

HPA is allowed.  Same energy rules as AEG's just measured with a heavier BB.
Mids or High Caps are allowed for this one since we want to include as many folks as possible.  We will be announcing another event at RSD though that will have the more restrictive ruleset that many of us MilSim enthusiasts enjoy!

Scenario:
Welcome to the 2016 annual Toys of Tots charity drive “Red Sleigh Down” this year is ‘the Battle for the Misbehaved’.

A millennia ago the forces of Old Saint Nick locked away the evil Krampus for what they thought would be the rest of eternity.  His prison was to be specially built in the southwest deserts on the continent of North America magically locked away far from the North Pole where his evil influence could never be felt. Ever since, Santa Clause has been happily spreading the joy of Christmas with his band of merry elves. However unannounced to Saint Nick, Krampus's devilish lieutenants were hard at work securing his release. Even now The Grinch, Frau Perchta, and the Yule Lads are capturing rotten children around the world for their nefarious plan. At this very moment they move on the five magical seals built to hold Krampus, littering the area with their captured children in cursed discarded Santa bags to weaken the seals. However fear not for the United States Marines are on guard to save Christmas!

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / Several Icom Radio Transceivers
« on: April 26, 2014, 02:30:43 PM »
I'll have ICOM UHF transceivers available for sale now and for the foreseeable future.   I have updated my collection of software and can now program most Icoms as well as HYT, Kenwood, Yaesu, Motorola, and a few others.

All units I have on hand are UHF models but I do have some VHF models for those interested.

You can see what I have available here and include ICOM F4, ICOM F21, and ICOM F43GS:
http://redgilatactical.com/communications/index.html

I also have some ICOM F4GS and ICOM F4TR models available but no ETA on when I'll have programming profiles assembled for them.

Price is listed on the webpage, first come first serve.  I also have a selection of extra batteries and other odds and ends.  Programming is included in the price and if nothing special is requested I'll set it up with FRS/GMRS frequencies and default CTCSS options.  I can ship via USPS for about $10 or meet up for delivery in Tucson or Phoenix.  If you would like to pickup in Red Rock you may do so as well.

I'm going to jump in here ahead of Honey Badger since I got home first and be the first to thank you all who attended!  Our sincerest apologies for the misconduct of a few, as you can see they were dealt with swiftly and justly with an ejection (easy to do that when there is not money involved and its just honor on the line).  We will hold our follow up actions with them privately.

For those whom have attended STALKER before...  I hope it lived up to your expectations.  It was great seeing a few of the role playing types mixed into the crowd and for the most part factions stuck to character.  I wish the events were related a little more clearly so everyone knew how the day was playing out but other then that it seemed to go well.  We could not have asked for better weather!

For those whom this was the first STALKER event...  Welcome to my pain.  Its partly train wreck (horrifying but can't look away) and partly stimulating.  I always find myself frustrated at the chaos but end the day with good stories.  If anything its a chance to be someone else for a few hours and get into character and for the milsim enthusiasts it shows were every part of the team can work on skills such as PSD, 3D 360 Coverage, and Counter Intelligence.  At one point I told my PSD group that if anyone that was not military go within 10 feet of me because they didn't stop them, I'd kick them in the balls.  Luckily I no one is singing soprano this afternoon so they got the message.

Always love to hear feedback from you.  Keep in mind this is not what we categorize a MILSIM event so please bear that in mind when exchanging AAR details.  Feel free to message the game admin (Honey Badger) or myself and just call out if your feedback was for Game Content, Rules, Conduct, Staff etc so we know what we can apply to our MILSIM events (one coming this summer) and what we can apply to other events types (like STALKER).

One important piece of information for us to gather is whether there is sufficient interest in the STALKER format to keep iterating on it or should we just go back to focusing resources on MILSIM games.  You can PM Honey Badger or myself on that topic directly so we don't have a debate that discourages others from weighing in.

Thanks again!

You guys coming out of Phoenix Tangerine my be locked down. Take Twin Peaks a couple miles south and it loops around back to tangerine, take a right, then a left on Rancho Vistoso. Follow it around. The turn off is on the right, across from Del Webb Blvd. If you get to Oracle road you went too far. There will be a kid in DPM at the turn in.

Don't have GPS coordinates on the entrance on my phone but here is the street number for it and a link to google maps.  If you punch this into your navigation you should be good coming down the 79, across Tangerine, or up Twean Peaks etc...

1784-2004 E Rancho Vistoso Blvd
Oro Valley, AZ 85755

http://goo.gl/maps/G6FR7

You will know it's the spot since it's the first left hand turn after you cross the river heading north, or last right hand turn before the river heading south.
