Alright guys. I'm planning on buying about a 4x magnification scope for my mp-5. If anyone is all like "its an smg y wud u do that?! derp!" I don't wanna hear it... I've got an 363mm tightbore etc.... 375fps w/ 0.25g's. It's a field gun.
Now my question is about eye relief. Most of the scopes I'm looking at either have an eye relief of around 3" or upwards of 10"... Now on an AR platform or a sniper, a 3" would be perfect, as you can get your eye closer or the scope further back on the rail. On a "scout" styled optic mount such as on a m14 carbine, or on a pistol, 10" or more is needed. I feel like the mp5 is in the awkward middle.... Around 6" or so from my eye to a scope. I don't want to get a scope with a too small of an eye relief which would give me a smaller picture, and I don't want too high of an eye relief and get a picture that moves a ton when I move my eye slightly.
Before someone calls out me for being anal, I'm an Optical Sciences major. Still learning, so school me if necessary. I haven't messed around with a ton of scopes, just know the principles behind them....
So I'm wondering if anyone here with a scoped mp-5 or g-3 has found a scope that works well. As of now I'm leaning towards getting a scope with a higher eye relief, but would appreciate any input.
Thanks!
