Looking for Pictures of AO's; and about throat mics
« on: September 08, 2012, 10:46:44 PM »
Hey guys, it'd be great if any could post as many pictures as they could of the AO's most commonly played in, anywhere from Hatfield to Four Peeks or Prescott. Mainly environmental pictures, I live out in Surprise, so everything is pretty damn flat and barren out here. Videos are good too. My memory doesnt serve me too well when it comes to the small stuff at the AO's.

I have a custom ghillie webbing being made for some tops and bottoms that i have laying around, and I need to pick out some specific colors to then take and buy some fabrics for. aswell as tailor certain aspects to fit the environment.

Also, can anyone recommend some decent throat mics? Preferably that could plug into my PTT adapter.

Thanks!

Check around YouTube, there's usually some decent headcam/guncam footage of AOs from various games.

That helps, but pictures tend to be richer in resolution and color. I'm busy trawling the old hatfield forums, cant find any of the new hatfield however.

New Hatfield is, like, 300 yards down the street. It's slightly denser trees and not quite as much open space, but all the colors are the same and everything.

I would be happy to start a picture collage of all the fields.

In fact I will get to work on this. Obviously will take me some time but Ill build a site around it and post it here.

I've wanted something like this for awhile as it is. I have many pictures of each AO as well.

I dislike throat mics. Everyone Ive known that has had them has always had transmission problems: they always sound garbled or far away. Standing around in a quiet environment they work well, but as soon as you start moving around, breathing heavily, etc, they always sound garbled. Plus they had to talk loudly, whispering was out of the question.

Plus, its something that's wrapped around your neck, so it makes breathing that much more labored. Just get a nice headset mic, or if you hate those, then get a lapel or wrist mic.

Its gimmicky technology that unless you spend a lot of money on it, will never live up to your expectations.

I was just out at new Hatfield yesterday. The rains have made everything less brown than you'd expect this time of year.

I dislike throat mics.

I agree.  I have yet to hear one work properly 100% of the time.  Most of them start off ok because you have it positioned just right in the sweet spot, but after you start moving the mic will shift slightly making your transmissions garbled and inaudible. Generally I've found if you ask those who have them, they will say they work great but if you ask those who are receiving them, they'll quickly tell you otherwise.

I second a good headset or earbud with mic in your case.

Elliot, you could update this sticky here with your info so that all AO info is located in one central location. Just PM Mace to see if he can add your info to the sticky.  http://www.airsoftarizona.com/index.php?topic=32178.0

This is the throat mic that I use but they sell different models on their site obviously.

I haven't had anybody on my team or anybody outside of my team complain to me about sound quality at all but maybe they've never spoken up. Who knows. If you are going to get one don't go cheap otherwise you will get poor quality and wires will wear out fast.
Everybody get down!!! Their trying to kill me! YEOWWW!!!
