Any experience or opinions on Berettas?
« on: December 31, 2012, 12:47:39 AM »
Might be picking up a 96 soon..... (.40 cal)
I know the 9mm will stovepipe if you limp-wrist em, but bad technique is not gonna keep me away from a gun.
I figure a lot of you ex-military guys have experience with m9s.

Thanks.  8)

They are the greatest gun you shouldn't but.  They are great guns function well are accurate. The problem with berettas is they are always over engineered.I can't stand working on them possibly and hate it when a customers brings them in to have work done. They have a decent stock firing pin however I recommend getting it np3'ed as well as the action bar being it is on the side making remy oil a nightmare. Consult  an armorer before  a full strip and you should be fine.  Anyways that's my 2 cents

Pretty much everything that needs to be said from the user's point of view: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+luckygunner/posts/G5ayFxnvrhV

Thanks for the comments guys. Is it really that much of a pain to disassemble? I've got tools and some experience. Fresnel, that was a good read, pretty much mirrored what my military buddies are telling me on Facebook.

Shoulda specified btw, I'm looking at the 96d (double action only, no frame safety) I'd probably keep it dao, but I've read the da/sa hammer and sear will drop in.

Umm... Honestly, unless you're planning to put thousands of rounds through the thing in a very short period of time without properly maintaining it, you're fine. My PT917C (basically a Brazilian 92 compact) is doing great. Not sure about dropping in a DA/SA into a DOA unit.
