guys, please keep in mind that this is going to be a hostile enviroment. this is a scrap/junk yard. there will be lots of hazards. this is not like playing at tempe or even fighter town where there are hazards but you most likely wont get hurt. i dont know how many of you have been in a junkyard before but they are not safe places. there is the potential for serious injury, especially if your in the heat of battle and are paying less attention to your enviroment than the person you are engauged with. there is giong to be broken glass and sharp metal everywhere.
ivan: i think this should be limited to 18+. mabey exceptions for younger players that will be there playing with their parents, parents will need to be on the field with them. no, im letting my kid do this but i dont feel like being here crap. also we need to make sure we have someone that is trained in first aid and have a kit for this event.
im not trying to discurage anyone from attending this game and i myself look forward to playing this ao.
i just dont want to hear anyone at or after the event bitching because they got hurt or some of their gear got dirty/ripped when they chose to play in this enviroment. know what you are getting yourself into and be prepared.
My thoughts exactly.
In Tucson we looked for YEARS on ways to play in the old airplane graveyard. It was always way too prohibitively dangerous or expensive (Insurance.)
Don't get me wrong, I have seen the way they look in videogames, so I can see the junkyard appeal, BUT having gone to a few Pick-n-pulls in my day, you are going to get destroyed.
Cars on makeshift blocks, pieces hanging out everywhere, cut metal edges, I almost hurt my myself when I go to the yards prepared to rip parts off cars! No joking matter.
I think people misrepresent the idea, they see the enviornment in there mind, and think wow! Without ever considering what goes along with it.
Also, if you have found a yard that isnt trying to resell the parts off the junk cars/equipment/ect. That shiot must be in ROUGH shape, seeing as how the majority of yards try to recoup cost/profit in the resell.
In short, I agree with Spazz, and, while I always encourage the finding of new Ao's, the potential liability here appears to far outweigh the pros.
Unless you found the yard from Junkyard wars....where no one gets hurt hahah.
Just my .02
