Why isnt airsoft more like paintball?
« on: July 03, 2007, 11:27:48 PM »
after playing paintball for 4 years, i got into airsoft. ive come to find that most people wear too much camo and act like theyre in iraq, its retarded.

i would like to see airsoft evolve into a side with games set up like speedball, with sup air bunkers.

sitting in a bush for 20 minutes is lame.

ive been playing airsoft for about a week and already ive been mowing people who have played for 2+ years.

perhaps you're playing thwe wrong games, or been playing with the wrong people.

it woudl be "stupid" to use brightly colored jerseys and run around a football field with inflatabarriers.

also, sittign ina  bush for 20 minutes means your not playing teh gaem right.

if you want quick games they exist, but mostly as pistol matches.

airsoft is primarily a mil-sim game.  if you cant get into that aspect, than this sport is not for you.  it will never go the route that PB has.

sorry

If you like paintball so much, then why did you leave?

Having played paintball for years I can honestly say that I feel that this is a far more interesting game.

The reason many people airsoft is that they want to "wear too much camo and act like theyre in iraq". That's part of what makes this sport different.

You are asking to change airsoft into something it's not...paintball.

My advice is if you want to play speedball, then pick up a "marker" and play speedball. Don't try to change a good thing...you will have a lot of people rolling their eyes and telling you to shut up.

if people are that close minded then so be it.

i personally think people look goofy as hell wearing 40 lbs of camo and vests when its 110 out, lying in bushes trying to be secretive. its hilarious.

dont get me wrong, its a decently fun game, i mostly enjoy it because you can play pretty much anywhere. there WILL come a time when it evolves and people get sick of the same old game, much like what happend with paintball.

the funny thing is, if anyone of these cats who think theyre in the army walked onto a speedball field with me, it wouldnt be a game.

I again pose my previous question...

If you like paintball so much, then why did you leave?

I honestly don't understand...why not stick to what you love instead of trying to crush somebody else's toy?

i got out of paintball because i got sick of it. at one time i owned 3 gats worth over $3,000, 4 air tanks, 10+ loaders and i just got to a point where i got bored with it. that and alot of drama. everyone wipes paint, airsoft is even worse because when i know i gogged someone, they dont get out, which forces me to light them up and then they get pissed "im out im out! f***, you shot me in the throat!"

It realy comes down to the problem of "winning". With airsoft being a sport based on the honors system it realy breaks down the system when you bring winning into the equation.
In paintball you do all you can to avoid balls breaking on you thus you wipe or wear oversized jerseys, neoprene coated stuff etc... it is a system based on doing all you can to bend the rules in your favor so that you "win".
With airsoft it is easy to not call hits, it is easy to say "I win, because I killed everyone else and I didnt die at all" after you cheated the game.

To have fun at airsoft you have to rid yourself of the idea that you can "win". You can have fun, you can do your part to the best that you know how, you can be honorable, you can have all your gear function right, you can make mistakes and finish the day learning something about battlefield strategy, but realy all you can win at is the game of testing wheather you will call yourself out when nobody is looking.

I dont play to win, I play to learn, to test my guns/gear/skills and to hang out with my friends. If I go to do any more than that I wont have a good time, if cool things happen then that is a bonus.

Also you may want to play with better people before you give up on the sport all together.

I assume you have never been to a large national op like Lionclaws or Irene where many of the player have been or are in the Army, Marines, and every other branch of service.

OK, so you are the queen of speedball.... so the fuck what?  You are still a legg poser who hasn't worn a uniform in defense of this country.... and thats fine bro...  I'll wear that uniform for you and defend this country.

Just take a moment of pause to consider that some of us wearing the camo and vests that you take such offense over have worn that camo and that gear in places you would shit your pants in.

You don't like our version of milsim using airsoft and thats fine.  This is our house and you don't have to stay.

RLTW... but you wouldnt know anything about that....

queen of speedball? bring your airsoft gun onto a speedball field and see how far you get.

dont try to bring politics into this. people who join the military are retards and those who are forced to join i feel sorry for.

if you knew ANYTHING about our current war status, you would understand that it is completely not needed when it comes down to it. our current president is an idiot, its clear.

im not here to argue about politics, im here to light you up. get your ass out of that bush, stand the fu** up and we'll see who gets mowed down.

i can appreciate that. the only reason i compare airsoft to paintball is because i wish it was more fast paced and more aggressive.

Points to Doc for owning queenie. Points to Ganef for his civility. Aesop guy is neg 10grand in points right now for general stupidity. I agry with Laser. Dont like, dont do. No one told you to. And if you play like a speed baller, you WILL get hit in this game. Well more than vets and casual players like myself. Its a game of tactics. Somethin paintball lacks completely. Please dont come onto our peaceful forum an instigate a conflict. It is completely unnecessary, and shows that you have a lack of better things to do. Which, I pitty you for.

owning queenie? paintball lacks tactics? hahaha.

paintball is 100x bigger than airsoft, for a reason. airsoft players play like girls.

like i said, come shoot toe to toe with me. stand up out of your bush and pull the trigger, we'll see who gets rolled first,

How many times do you want your question answered?

Airsoft is not speedball because we don't like speedball.

If you really want to play speedball, maybe you should reconsider paintball because it is very rare that you will find a speeball game in airsoft.  The two games are just different.  If they weren't, well, they wouldn't have different names.

If you legitimately think that we are all girls and that you are the most badass thing to walk this earth, then why don't you just leave and find some other people to "dominate"?

If this is the way you feel airsoft should be played then I don't understand why you left painball.  You said you were board of paintball and started playing airsoft.  Give the mil sim a try and get into it you may like it.  If not then go back to paintball and dress up like a power ranger playing speed ball because that is way more manly than wearing camo.
