Title: Sixth Column !RESCHEDULED! - Operation: Beat the Heat - At Strawberry - May 2nd
Post by: McMoose on March 29, 2015, 09:33:54 AM
Due to the increasing heat in the Valley we will be hosting up in Strawberry, average temperatures for the day are a balmy 70°!

When - Saturday 2nd May

Where - Strawberry - http://goo.gl/maps/8HGhu

Follow I-17 north to South Access Road/General Crook Trial in Camp Verde, Exit 285.
Follow AZ-260 E for approx 33 Miles
We will try to have some sort of marker out for the game day of. If you want to camp the night before, please PM me for specifics.

What - Tan Vs Green Capture the Flag!

Each team has to go and locate flags in the field of play and bring them back to their base. First team to 5 flags wins!

Game Rules -

There will be 9 flags in play, 8 white 'points' flags and 1 blue 'respawn' flag.

Points flag :- These are the flag you need to capture and return to get a point for your team. Conditions of getting points are:-

1) You may only carry 1 flag at a time
2) If you are hit while holding a flag you must immediately drop it, do not hand it off to a team mate. However any team mate can go pick it up at any point
3) Flag can be obtained at any point during the game at any location at any time. This means instead of looking in the field for another flag you may steal flags from the opposing team.

Respawn flag :- This flag can be used as a mobile spawn point, if you die you may go and respawn at this flag under these conditions :-

1) The flag is currently held by an alive team mate
2) The flag is NOT contested (IE: the person holding the flag is not being shot at or is actively shooting anyone)

If you die with the respawn flag YOU MUST immediately drop it, do not hand if off to a team mate. However any team mate can go pick it up at any point.

No uniform mixing, with the exception of gear, your uniform must ALL be the same color, NO JEANS!!!!

Hello. would it be better to bring both green and tan uniforms. How does team selection work. I have never been to an event but would really like to come, along with some friends. Is there a limit on number of players? Does it matter if some guns are not M4/M16?

Give us a drop pin to the AO, are 4x4's required, and camping? I'm in. I will post it up with TAC

Team selection is based purely on what everyone signs up as. Sign up for whatever team you prefer! If you want to bring extra uniforms then that is also fine. It would help balance teams on the day.

Bring as many people as you like, just please make sure you register your count on here.

You can bring what ever *AIRSOFT* gun you wish, I will not discriminate.

Since you have not come to any events I would also suggest reading up on some rules/etiquette.

I would have to get co-ordinates, honestly I have only ever been there once. No 4x4s required! From what I remember it is all tarmac to the AO. I got there in a low slung 2WD Mazda so anything can make it.

Camping I am not sure about, I would like to say maybe? If not I am sure there would be campsites nearby. Sounds awfully tempting just to get out of the heat for a night and a day.

Question about the directions. Is the meeting spot right off the 87? Or is there some kind of exit?

Question about the directions. Is the meeting spot right off the 87? Or is there some kind of exit?

When you see the gravel pit on the right side of the road, go 1 mile, when the road curves left, in the middle of the curve there is a dirt road on the right. Go down that dirt road, it will Tee. Last time we went left at the Tee if I remember correctly, but I imagine 6CA will post up a sign directing you.

It's hard to see on google maps, but that dirt road is directly on the marker. There is a dirt road turn off about 100ft before the marker that's easier to see, and that merges into the same road, so you can take either one. (click the Earth/satellite view button)

Put me down for multicam w/ leafy oversuit or solid green - I can switch the day of depending on team balancing.

Will send you a PM about camping as well.

Hmmmm... Can you (or anyone) post a map of the actual AO. For people like me who are driving up alone, I'd really appreciate specific directions to make sure I don't get lost and cant find the AO and miss a day of airsofting.

The pin drop is the location. As Dayton said turn at that spot, follow the road in. Signs will be posted. It's not that far off the road.

DDMS Should be there
Due to short notice I cannot give you an exact number, most of our team is dispersed for the summer.
We should have between 2 and 7 in Multicam.
Will try to give a more accurate count by Friday if I can.

Good numbers for a long ways out of town game!

That being said it will be a long early drive home for the following people who show up :-

1)Anyone wearing a black shirt or Jeans
2)Anyone mixing camo patterns (green top and tan pants for example) Gear can be any color, please try and match headwear.
3)Anyone who is unsporting, not calling their hits, or acting like a complete ass hat
4)Anyone who doesn't bring me a Burrito or a Shepherds Pie (this is (mostly) a joke)

We will be having a 1 1/2 to 2 hour game in the morning, followed by a 30-60 minute intermission, then another 1 1/2 - 2 hour game in the afternoon. So bring yourself some lunch and plenty of water!

For those of you without GPS the turn off on Hwy 89 is .9 miles past the gravel pit/hwy 260 interchange. Right before the hwy curves to the left you'll see the first exit which runs alongside the hwy for about 200ft and joins the main exit.

If you get to the dirt road denoted at the marker on the map posted on the main page, you will be good to go. http://goo.gl/maps/8HGhu
They've stated they will guide you in with signs and it's only 500 ft. off the highway to the parking area.

The link from Moose is a picture of where the turn off is. when you come up the road there is a Rock quarry on the right of the road. The turn off to the AO is 1.2 miles up the road on the right from the Rock Quarry. We will be putting out signs to guide you!

Beat the heat gentleman this will be fun!

We are going to camp out that Friday night FYI. We wont be getting there till later however.. around 7ish...  When you turn off onto the dirt road you will come to a fork in the road. At the dirt road fork, make a left. and you will come to an opening we will be camping there.
