AEG's / MP7A1 Upgrades
« on: October 05, 2006, 05:00:59 AM »
I've read a couple of reviews on the MP7 around the web and a few reference upgrades either coming our or already out, but I can't find any. I was wondering if anybody knows of any that are actually available. I don't want to turn it into a 400 fps monster, just boost it closer to normal GBB range in the low 300s.

Troubleshooting / SG1 gearbox issue
« on: October 05, 2006, 04:51:38 AM »
I bought a Marui SG1 from a board member a while back (can't find the post for it anymore) that had been upgraded and I can't remember what the upgrades were. I used it a few times and it worked great but some time ago it stopped firing right and made nasty grinding sounds. I stopped using it after the grinding started to try and minimize any damage and got busy so it's been sitting in a closet for a long time. I finally got around to taking it apart today and found the bevel gear has a partially broken tooth, badly enough so the gears just bind at that point. Everything else looks good other than it needs grease. My question is if there is any way to get a new gear without having to get a whole set and a new spring to make sure it all matches. I know the spring was upgraded, but don't know of any way to find out what the spring actually is so I don't want to get a gear/gearset that won't do the job.

Just to let everyone know this training was a lot of fun and definatly worth the time and money. Mike covered basic safety and weapon handling then went to tactics and ended with a few cool scenarios. If you're new to airsoft this is a good place to get some basic training and if you've been around a bit longer than it's fun CQB practice.

I never think of it as being hopelessly outnumbered, I think of it as being in a target rich environment. But since I'm on the side with the numbers then you can think of it as being hopelessly outgunned ;).

I just caught some references to CQB with the choppers and wanted to know for certain what the rules are so I know if I need to find my mask or just avoid those areas.

Just a question. The Coalition rules say full face mask for CQB, will the CQB here count for that, or is it open-field type CQB and no worries?

AZ Mills is normally pretty empty on the side by Sports Authority or the side by Burlington Coat Factory. We can also meet at the Denny's right by there and caravan with Gixser and the rest of his crew.

AZ Mills is at Baseline and the I-10. If your coming from I-10 take the Baseline exit. If you're exit has a Denny's on the right (going east) then make a left and then left at the 2nd light. If your exit has a Circle K on the right (going west) then go right and make the next left. If you're taking the 60 merge onto the I-10 East and take Baseline exit. Any other highways you'd want to merge onto one of those or you'll drive through the streets a bit. Here's the address/phone:
5000 Arizona Mills Circle, Tempe, AZ
(480) 775-6117

Cool. I'm officially going now, hope to be heading out of the valley at about 6AM, which should get us there early/on time for reg and such according to Google maps (I like being early). I live at Southern and Dobson by MCC and have no problem with a bit of a drive to get you guys, but I want to try and avoid rush hour if possible. Where would be a good spot for you guys to meet at?

General Airsoft Discussion / Barrel oil and gearbox grease
« on: April 05, 2005, 10:06:18 PM »
I was wondering if anybody knows of a decent place in town (Mesa/Tempe/and that corner of Phoenix area) to get silicon oil for my AEG barrel and grease for my gearbox? I've got an AEG and want to use it but had to take it apart to replace the hopup so that's pretty dry. I also had to replace the piston and it took me a few tries to get all the parts in there at the same time  so that lost a lot of the grease. I'd like to use this for the game this weekend and don't have the ability to get the stuff off of the Internet right now because my credit card company is run by inept people and it'll take too long to pay by mail and get the stuff. Also if anybody has some extra available I'd be willing to buy some off of you. Thanks guys.

Accessories & Gear / Uvex Stealth Goggles
« on: April 05, 2005, 08:38:59 PM »
I've had these goggles for about a year now for airsofting and figured I'd share this with people. I know goggles are probably (to me they are) the most important piece of gear to an airsofter. It's tough to have a fun game when you've lost an eye and it tends to be a tad inconvenient afterwards. And so I got some Uvex goggles for my first game last year with my Camelback from the same site.

They come with antifog, antiscratch and antistatic coating, though mine have some scratches they don't cause any problems and the goggles do occasionally fog up on the top half, but never too bad. They are nice sized and lightweight so don't interfere with peripheral vision at all, a few times I've forgotten I'm wearing them. One downside to that is that they are a bit bulky on the side and so it's tougher to use scopes and such because it's hard to get your eye that close, but I figure that's a downside to goggles anyway. They also meet/exceed (based on which site you look at) ANSI Z87.1-1989 and CSA Z94.3-1992. I can attest that they can take some BB hits. Mine have been thwacked directly in front of my eye a few times with BBs at decent strength and no sign of any damage. The strap that comes with them is a thin rubber one, it's held up without any problem, but I didn't want them falling off by accident so I jury-rigged a valcro strap to ensure they stay on tight. The only main complaint I have is that the seal around the face is rubber, nice for cleaning but it occasionally gets a bit irritating near the end of the game, solved by taking them off during an official break in the game.

For those of you looking for some decent goggles they're here for $10.00
http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/uvstealgogcl.html and other places have them for around the same price.
