Ok guys so a huge pillar of this community passed today and I think the least we could do to honor everything he has done for me personally and for everyone who plays in Arizona is make a memorial patch for him. I'll be updating this post with some designs and votes and stuff but please give me some input. Like what should be included or where to have custom patches made.

I have an idea, if you look up the wounded warrior project, you will see the logo be one soldier carrying the other, maybe it should be not the exact same thing, but the idea of that with a diffrent look, like picking up a fallen hero

He said they were about $10 a piece but that was for only 6 patches, and generally price seems to go down with quantity.
Also, did Ron have a callsign or something we could incorporate into the patch? Or his forum name.

Perhaps you could sell these patches for a little more than just what they cost to make, and donate the funds to his family. Might not be a huge amount, but anything counts for something. Just a thought.

check with lights out. i know they do decals and such for tshirts and hats, etc. maybe they can help make the patches.
I just talked to them a couple days ago. They said they don't do patches.

Lights Out sent me to Allied Surplus for a name tape, I should be going by there tomorrow possibly.

for those that dont know ron was also a very talented artist and once upon a time produced his own comic book. the name that he had for his artist stuff was emerald wasp studios. i have a copy of the logo but it is the low def version i am going to try and get a diff pic of it and i think that if we do a patch for him then it should be included in the design because its a logo he designed.

Ron in addition to being a talented grafic artist, had worked in galleries and was also a talented airbrush artist... Such a loss of talent...

I only met Ron twice at gearbox last year, he seemed like he was a sweetheart of a guy.

When a design is settled upon (I liked the idea of using his logo for part of it) I'm sure me and my team will sure buy some.

Most of PSC were close friends with Ron and Marney so its not just some team. As soon as I here back from butler we will have a batch made allready ran them by Marney and she feel in love with them. If someone else wants to make another one fell free. Ill post a pre order link as soon as i get the quot back.

Wow Umm for 1 the money goes to the family 2 Marney was in the loop on the design 3 your letting your personal feelings get in the way of a charity, I sure didn't see you today at the funeral. That said PSC didnt design the patch. Iceman of Irish Bastard Gunworks did. Im sure he would love to here this being he was a personal friend of Rons too and was also at the funeral. Also if your so concerned about the quality of his work lets see what you have going.

What's wrong with PSC? PSC has been very involved with what's been going on with Ron. Jason, has known Ron since before he got into Airsoft. It's not like some random ass company is like hey this guy died lets make money! They were really good friends, and I know Jason will give all the money he can to Rons family like they deserve.

Actually it was made by me. Ron was a friend of mine, I have known him for going on 12 years. I really think you have very little tact calling me "some idiot" considering you had NO idea who even designed the patch. I am deeply insulted because this design actually meant something to me. I created this simply as a memorial to Ron and his family and friends and all of us who knew and loved him. It is NOT a PSC design, its MY design. I gave the patch to Jason because he had told me about this thread, so he could post it up on here in hopes someone would make it because I don't have the money to. I figured it would be nice for the community to show remembrance to a truly good man who supported the airsoft community. Considering I see no other designs on this thread only people talking to it you guy can do what you want.

The thing is we dont need or want multiple designs. This is for the memorial and remembrance of a great husband, father, and man in general. The patch was designed by his family and closest friends and it means something to them that must of us will never understand. The fact of the mater is they did not in anyway have to post it to the community and let us in on the patch. You guys should be more focused on the fact the money is going to help his family and not how "cool the patch is". Regardless if there is a patch or just a donation I and everyone else that knew him would jump at the first idea to help his family. So quit bitching about getting more designs and voting on one. The patch means something greater than what it looks like. You dont like it? Then quit posting on the thread.

To jason. I dont think i have to show up to a funeral to show i care. Seeing how i had to go to both of my parents funerals seperatly. Second i wont design a patch because i didnt know him that well. I dont think sitting and talking with him for hours every other week makes me a personal friend.
Ice man is a founding member and part of PSC. On that note if you are making this statement then why did you make such a hart less comment. That said its funny how as soon as you find out who drew the patch you sang a different toon. Thats discrasefull to ROn and all he stood for Chinole.

I'll add my two cents, even though no one cares. For me personally, ill buy a patch because I know the money is going to a good man's family. The patch could have a unicorn flying over a banana phone and other such random shenanigans. It's more about the charity, not how cool it looks. On a more serious note, people should be arguing over who has a better beard, chinole or psc. My vote is chino, he looks like a scary genghis khan.

And yes, I agree. I personally didn't know Ron, I just knew him as the guy who owned Gearbox and he knew me as "that redhead guy who buys the broken guns from his store." I'm doing this, like Sgun480 said, because the money is for a cause. In the end that's what this is about. We're all gathered here to support a family with their loss, not bicker over patch designs or who knew Ron the longest. I personally found some people(s) behavior here unnecessarily juvenile. I for one will be purchasing a patch regardless of which design we ultimately agree on.

Now that things have settled down.....
PSC, when you first posted the patch design, people seemed to get confused. You didn't include any information about it or who designed it. The thread turned from "hey guys lets come up with a design together," to "hey so we are having these made." Hence why Red Devil mentioned that we could get more of the community in for a collective design that meant more to the community as a whole. That being said.....
The thread had more or less stalled before PSC posted, and knowing more about their design and knowing that the Bilodeau family had a part in it, I'd be willing to purchase one.
I hope this might have cleared up the source of the confusion.....

You guys need to relax with anything not germane to the development of a prospective patch.
I would advise everybody to not post again until they have an actionable design in mind. This five page thread has yielded one design and it didn't even result from this thread.
If this devolves any further, the thread will be locked.

I talked to Butler patches today and got quotes for 50 and 100 of the patch. I am not sure how many to go with so I would like to get a rough estimate please pm us with how many you would like to buy. We will probably be selling them at $5 a piece.

i maybe a little late on the bag wagon but ill also take one. Ron helped me get started out in airsoft. when i was just two years ago when i was rocking a SRc sporter. if you ask me. id say the entire world airsoft industry has taken a major loss with him gone.

psc: i know you guys allready have your first runs coming in, but i think it would be cool for mabey the second run if you could try and intergrate rons logo into the patch instead of the angel wings.

Ill get with iceman. he is the illustrator. the down said is it is going to be more expensive on our side if we submit a new patch style, patches are not cheap.

The patches came in this afternoon. I will be bringing them to sector9 either Thursday night or Friday morning. We will also have some available at this weekends fearfarm game. The patches are going for $7. If you have any questions feel free to pm us.

Patches are now available at s9 going to try to get some down at Tempe paintball tomorrow all depends of I have to go to casagrand or not. Should have a Paypal set up for them this weekend. Once the first batch is sold it should only 2 to 3 do get the second.

Picked it up last week at S9. I didn't really know him well and only conversed with him on a few occasions, but that was enough to earn my respect. RIP Ron.

Hey guys just wanted to thank everybody for helping out Rons' family and S9 for supporting the patch sale, I bought mine a couple weeks ago and glad to help out. I knew Ron from Gearbox Airsoft and always had a great experience and he also respected me for being prior service. May he rest in peace and we will all be here to help in any way we can to his loved ones'.
