Local Games Listing/RSVP / Mile High Airsoft Night Game 10-20-12
« on: October 16, 2012, 09:47:29 PM »
The Embry-Riddle club "Mile High Airsoft" is going to be holding a night game up in Prescott this Saturday the 20th. The game is free, but we will be grilling food. So if you want to eat with us, a suggested donation of a few bucks would be nice.

We will meet at the Embry Riddle campus at 1600 and we will convoy to the field around 1630. Address is 3700 Willow Creek Rd. Prescott, AZ 86301

From 1500 till zero-dark-thirty we will run regular TDM, CTF, etc. games

After the BBQ we will run zombie style games.

Our FPS limits are: AEG-420fps w/.20g@25ft minimum engagement distance (MED)

                              Sniper/DMR (semi only)- 614fps w/.20g@75ft MED

HOWEVER: once night games start, the MED doesnt exist. All players on the human teams must have guns which shoot no more than 375fps.
Keep in mind, not everyone will be human, so there may be guns you can borrow if yours is too hot.

Green or Tan is not required, but is helpful in creating teams.

What should you bring?
         WARM CLOTHES
         WATER
         CHARGED BATTERIES
         BB's
         FLASHLIGHT
         RED KILL LIGHT (Recommended)
         FULL FACE PROTECTION (Reccomended)
         FRIENDS
         POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Where on Campus will we meet?
When you reach the main entrance, you will hit a roundabout. Take the last turn AKA left turn, behind the dorms. Take a right at the stop sign, then an
immediate left. Go to the last parking lot where you will see a bunch of people in camo.

I know there are a few other games going on this weekend, but this will give the Phoenix folks a chance to get away for a night. Generally everyone has a great time and leaves with a smile on their faces after a good Mile High night game. So come on up, make some friends, and enjoy some cool weather and great airsoft. On behalf of the Mile High Airsoft club, I hope to see you there!

If you have any further questions, please ask away.
If you plan on attending, please say it in your comments.

I agree, this looks like a great location.  If the OP was to get all the legal issues sorted out, I would be there for sure with a couple teammates.  Please get the ball rolling on this!

Seriously, lets get some initiative going, and make this happen for real. If OP isnt fully up to it (not saying theyre not) say something, this is an opportunity none of us wanna miss! And honestly, free is great, but I wouldnt mind a cover charge if it helps get this done, plus the cash could be used for props to make gameplay more versatile and immersive.

Up here in Prescott, at the fields my team play at, camo holds a high tactical advantage... obviously. Our fields are pretty close  quarters, so i say this with experience. The general landscape is desert, but with heavy foliage, and i find that even from even 10ft away, those who wear camo are significantly harder to spot than those without. Even while moving. Therefore i am a huge fan of camo. however, i am not familiar with phoenix area fields, but i assume less foliage, flatter terrain, and correct me if i am wrong. so i would guess camo has a bit less of an advantage. All i am saying is it depends on the fields terrain. Where i play, camo works damn well, therefore i always use it. In terms of multicam vs tan, i use either depending on my mood, and with mc, i run a coyote tan CIRAS and IBH and it looks pretty good IMO

I've been up to Prescott for games before, it sounds more like the lighting or lack thereof is what's making it harder for you to spot moving people.

Find the right rock and the right amount of shade, and even a dork like me in ACU would be hard to spot. I'm fairly sure that's up in a Prescott AO, that or Strawberry.

Lighting for sure plays a  factor. We play morning-midday and obviously the darker it gets, the harder it is to spot people, especially those who wear camo. All im trying to say is where i play, i find wearing camo definitely has its advantage. Often times i spot fellow team mates just by the vibrant red and yellow team patch we wear, otherwise i wouldnt have seen them. But with types of camo, they all essentially do the same thing in terms of disrupting the human figure. My team runs multicam, and im more partial to multicam. I know it works well, but for those who dont believe in camo for airsoft, thats fine, thats just how i like to play, and it works for me.

It doesn't appear to do that with ACU lol!

During those Prescott/Strawberry games that I was wearing ACU where I got stuck out in the open, I was described as a big alfalfa colored blob running around the field. Anyway back on topic the whole argument here was that newer players seem to think camo is a license to be careless with cover and position, it isn't. If you are smart about movement and positioning then I agree it will help, but lets get one thing straight, a guy in jeans and a t-shirt who moves intelligently through a field and uses cover and concealment wisely will always get the drop on someone wearing camo that lacks situational awareness and runs around out in the open like a chicken with its head cut off.

I completely agree with you. Camo isnt my aegis that lets me run around undetected, its simply a tool to give the upper hand when used wisely. So yes, I agree that someone in jeans and a t-shirt can be arguably just as effective, but from a personal preference, I like to use camo.

Introduce Yourself! / Think its about time...
« on: April 03, 2012, 02:20:04 AM »
Been on this site for a couple  of months now, figured now id formally introduce myself. Ive been into airsoft for a couple of years now, but have been serious about it for a year. Im a part of the Mile High Airsoft club based out of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University up in Prescott. We've got good fields, and a great squad. We play on saturdays, but sometimes our numbers can be a little thin. So if any teams out there wanna join up and play, let me know. We're good, honest players who  love the game, and we would love to play with other teams. I know its not really a "personal" about me but hey, my fellow teammates and I are always looking for folks to shoot- err.... play with. let me know, and hope to see you on the field!
