General Airsoft Game Discussion / Re: Four Peaks Game?
« on: September 27, 2010, 09:19:10 AM »
I am interested, if i can actually go is another story, i love 4 peaks though. Its actually kinda sad to see that not the many people go out there anymore and prefer to play at the pay fields... If theres anyway i CAN make it, i will... with a date set i'll have a better answer for sure.

OT:
I wish i was a 13 year old that could make up pointless facts about airsoft, whos uncle and father were in the military, so their experience directly translated to me being a super warrior who knows everything, even though its all lies.

If theres one thing that ive learned in this thread, its that how long ive been alive means nothing, cause anything a 13yr old can do and say means he knows more about life than me. Even though he knows nothing of the real world... btw "rair 8mm snow wolf" guns are retarded, 8mm bbs are like a cocaine addiction.... expensive and retarded...

Another question about four peaks...

The map says you are required to play "north of the corralled fence area"

Is this different from the Past? meaning that the house and the land "south" of it are off limits? A complete reversal of what i am used to?

Or am i getting turned around and the "southern" part is on the other side of the wash, the protected land that has always been off limits, and the AO is still the same as it has been for the past 5 years?

AEG's / Re: What else do i need for my spr to take a sp120?
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:07:31 AM »
Well, thats a bit of a mystery... Its supposed to shoot high out of the box (385, higher than the m4)...

I had it chrono'd in colorado at the local shop before i left, they said that was "normal" and alot of their guns chrono low. I second guessed it still and they said alot of guns dont have that high of an fps... I couldn't believe it really, especially since it shoots so far... Is it possible their chrono is just messed up? Should i get another opinion? They just used some random unlabeled bbs, and the first battery they could find that worked... the only thing i can think of is that the motor might need to be adjusted... as it hadnt been since the last reassemble. But i dont know if thats got anything to do with fps... I asked if the battery was fully charged, or on its last legs, and they said that shouldnt matter but that it was, however i dont know that they really knew...

Ive heard of torn hop up bucking causing a decrease in fps, but the stuff i just put in there is brand new (maybe i messed it up, but it looked fine when i installed it). Im pretty sure the piston head isn't loose either as i loctited it in (not with the perm. stuff)... Gear grease was used for the cylinder/piston instead of the normal piston grease as it wasnt around at the time. I know its a bit thicker, but it shouldnt cause an almost 100fps decrease...

im stumped...

AEG's / What else do i need for my spr to take a sp120?
« on: September 27, 2010, 07:57:39 AM »
I was thinking of selling my D-Boy Spr but now it seems more economical to just keep it. The gun shoots far but the FPS is a little low for me (275 with a .25 i believe). I first thought to make it a DMR, however i think its better to just push it close to 400 since it can already reach out and touch some one with such a low fps. I have the spring sitting in my parts box but i haven't thrown it in yet as its a bit of a demon spring (ill get to that below)

Ive thrown a tight bore in and I have upgraded the internals almost completely from stock but a few stock elements remain. Basically the one upgrade i think i need to change is the bushings, as they are plastic, i need to change them to metal ball bearing ones correct? Is this the only modification i still need? Or should i also go with a new set of gears? Will i also need a high torque motor to replace the stock one soon? I'm assuming I'm gonna burn the stock one out with the sp120.

Also this same guarder sp120 spring i want to use was in my friends D-boy m4. It shredded his stock piston (no surprise) but it also shredded the ICS aluminum piston he used to replace it, stripped 2 teeth off a gear, and ate up his cut off lever to the point of shooting in only full auto. After that incident we returned the spring to stock and i became the owner of it. Do i run the risk of having the same problem? should i even bother? Do i run the risk of breaking the front of the stock box off too?

Here is a list of what i currently have in the gearbox that is upgraded.
CA m4 nozzle
Bravo Cylinder head
Modify Type 0 cylinder
Modify Bearing piston head
area 1000 spring guide
King Arms pom piston with 7 metal teeth

since they are "cold" ignition (ie no fuse that requires open flame) wouldn't they be allowed in national forest land presuming it was not during a fire ban and a "controlled" use (which is impossible since your throwing). and 300yds from a path or campsite? Or is it still considered a pyrotechnic device since it burns hot in and around the device and could start a fire? (just trying to clarify their rules)

What grenades are you speaking of? I don't believe I've seen them before. got a link? How do they work? They seem much more economical for airsoft at the price you've stated... I still want some of the other ones to keep around though :)

Just thought, as a heads up for everyone, that i would post this here instead of the real steal section...

Scottsdale Gun Club has 2 types of smoke grenades for sale. Both types are made by a company called ALS... There is a military looking m-18 type, it comes in white, yellow, and red for $49.99, the discharge for 30 seconds. ALS only shows this silver model, however all of the ones at scottsdale were the standard military green with "smoke _____" and the color listed
http://static.alstechnologies.com/image ... LSG972.jpg

The other kind is a Mini pocket smoke grenade, it comes in white and red (i only saw white there, but they could have been behind the ones up front). This model discharges for 20 seconds, the price is $39.99.
http://static.alstechnologies.com/image ... LSG978.jpg

The cost is a little much for JUST an airsoft game if you ask me, however i last saw smoke grenades for $80 a piece at a gun show. I want to pick up a couple of each but i dont think ill ever be popping them in a game. I want to get a red and yellow full size m18, and two of the pocket ones just to have them.

The mini pocket ones would be the only one economic enough for airsoft use in my opinion. The one problem is that a white smoke screen might alert people to the area thinking there is a brush fire. I also specifically asked if they were LE only, and i was told no, they were not.

Thats probably the fastest way (should be almost instantaneous)... my friends went through evike to do it and it took a bit longer, but it still got done.

Evikes recent practices of just taking money for months on end have to be illegal... and if they go belly up all of a sudden they could just disappear with all your cash... If i were you, id get a refund and go else where... you could be waiting indefinitely.

But to a high schooler that doesnt have a ton of money to spend, $80 the most I might consider for just the base gear.

And someone said before, the thigh rig won't hold enough magazines for a firefight.  I modified my camel back so it's a sling-type pack with MOLLE webbing on the front, so I can attach more magazine pouches on to that, right on my chest.  As of now, I have 3 mid-caps and a high-cap.  How many mids would I need in general for most operations?

I usually went through 2 highcaps of 300 some rnds in an hour or longer game, being able to re up before the next match. You probably have enough mags, however having a full set of 5 mid caps cant really hurt you. The more ammo the better, you never know whats gonna hit you.... I have 7 mids for my AK holding just over 100 rnds, and i have 10 short "20rnd" 85 rnd mags for my spr. I still have the highcap for it, but i need to get 3 or so regular length mid caps for it. the 85 rnd mags are a little bit of a disadvantage more so than other mids.

Here are some styles you might consider for a cheaper option, but carrying more ammo.... hopefully you could change your camel back to original if you were to pick up something like this. Coupled with a leg rig youd be a pretty well kitted guy. If historical accuracy isnt a big deal to you like it is to me, you could run this set up for everything really...

The Condor Chest rig (better looking than the below option) This is a remniscent remake of the chest rigs used by SF and Delta in the early 2000s $25
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=29656

UnKnown - I have seen these all over the web, they come in green and camo too, best bargin for airsoft at $15, the construction on ones i have see isnt too bad really...
http://www.akingsupermarket.com/Tactica ... n_P144518/

king arms chest rig $ unknown, other companies make similar ones
http://www.kingarms.com/productpage.asp?prodid=415

Eagle universal chest rig (this is my fav, and i have wanted one for a while) $75, you can carry you pistol, pistol ammo, and rifle ammo, all in one... This is something i hope to get for my early war afghan set up, im undecided on a color, and short of the fundage. bigger projects going too....

Actually, SF was wearing LBVs. Spear Elcs, and AK chest rigs along with old school camels (thats the only thing i was actually atributing to the 2001 afghan era) because thats all they had at the time they hit the ground. Alot of pictures show them not really "blending" in at all with that gear. Fully integrated rigs werent around yet, with the molle adaptave hydration packs... Back when they still had 3 colors. They wore ranger body armor and other armor devices because things like the OTV interceptor and and Plate Carriers werent really around yet... Marine MEU units and Seals (vbss) were the only ones really using Parclets and Plate Carriers around then. Even then, seals in the jungle were still opting for LBE gear and LBV gear as they could carry heavier loads, and larger heavy armor tends to inhibit motion. Special Forces in the philippines at the time was even using chest rigs over ranger armor and Spear body armor. Units attempting to blend in were using AKs, and AK chest rigs, along with local clothing... Thats not what i use my AK rig for, usually... SF operatives have used AK rigs since nam, just to carry extra ammo. but they have also used them to blend in to, from the same period.

My gear is more designed to do Desert Storm, Vietnam SF, and Russian Afghan War impersonations.... The hobby is more about reenactment to me. I dont want to look like some paid merc out of modern warefare 2 or battlefield 2. My "modern" load out consists of a early afghan look, with pieces of alice gear or the AK chest rig along with my Camel, and a night desert camo parka like can be seen on many early war northern Afghan SF personnel. I wont be buying any molle gear anytime soon, sorry, you cant get me to. Ill be buying a Army Airforces WW II survival vest, and maybe even some WW I bar belts before you get me to drop money on molle... molle gear doesnt go with my 1970s ERDL camo or gulf war chocolate chip uniform. They also dont make a molle rig in experimental urban tack camo, which is the only current uniform i have. Currently, i can attach anything i need to my alice gear or vietnam gear... I dont need dump pouches when i have a claymore bag or a GP ammo bag.

Remeber, the LBE systems were designed with the same thought as molle, just not to the same EXTENT. All the pouches you need, and the ability to modify the set up per user. Infact, current MOLLE belts and h harnesses take from the idea of the older H-harnesses. the only thing thats different is HOW the pouches attach. Only the plate carrier offers the advantage of armor. Like most people say about weapons, its not the weapon, its the user, the same is true of gear. This is why special elements like MAC V SOG were sucessful in nam, even without "body armor" while marines with flak jackets died. Even Delta Operatives of the early 80s often just used general purpose bags, left over nam gear, and weapons like the Uzi and grease gun. Dressed in dyed black jungle fatigue tops, watch caps, and a pair of blue jeans. A heavy ass plate carrier wouldnt have made the navy seals, SOG teams, or Mike Force elements of vietnam do their jobs anybetter. Their mobility would have been restricted, they would have been overrun, and usually, a cas evac wasnt available, and a soldier with body armor who gets hit hard is still gonna need medical attention. There are pros and cons to either side, it all depends on what you wanna do.

I have NO molle gear at all, what so ever... Its all about what you want and what you can work with, for some people its molle, for others its not... I actually prefer the older style of thinking, using load bearing equipment and load bearing vests. Even my chinese AK rig works just fine and its probably the simplest and favorite item of mine to use. Modernized imitations of this item from people like U.S. palm run up to $70-$100. Mine was $5. And they usually go for more. You cant be a classic, not even when you try to reinvent it sometimes.

I myself have
a full vietnam m1956 web gear set up,
A full lc2 Alice set up with a lc1 alice h harness
Various bits of russian 1980s gear and chinese PLA chestrig... (equivalent to what the russians used in afghanistan in the 80s)

The closest thing i have to "cutting edge" is a camelbak maximum gear 3l two pocket pack, and it doesnt even rig up to molle unless you make work the ghetto way... its more like the items our SF guys used when they first hit the ground in Afghanistan almost a decade ago... Simple pouches and holsters work for me, i seem to be better ventilated as well, im not much of one for the heavy thick nylon "heat wrap" of a plate carrier with padding... Not to mention its lighter (well, the nam gear isnt really lighter, being all cotton web). The LBE style still allows for better venting and cooling even with the heavier nam gear.

Another reason i run these items follows something Airsoftguy01 said. Its all REAL gear, none of it is cheap chinese imitation gear. If i ever want to get my money back out of the vintage gear and uniforms, i know i can.... If i drop money on molle, and cheap molle, ill never get a respectable amount back out of it, in my opinion. Its cheaper to build an older load out in my opinion anyways, as you can jump on things at surplus stores where people don know what they have.

In my opinion, Modern Warfare 2, not gangster rap, is to blame for the problems of our adolescents ;) ;)

General Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Who listens to Dubstep?
« on: September 26, 2010, 05:40:13 PM »
I personally listen to Drum and Bass... Old school techno (stuff from the mid to late eighties up to the early 90s, older than alot of kids here, like moby, when he ate e) And some trance stuff.... The weirder the better. I personally like prodigy, pendulum, and chemical brothers more so than anything brand new to the streets these days... Id rather spend my time listening to MSI, Pink Floyd, Zepplin, The Doors, The Greatful Dead, or the Stones in the end anyways...

That being said... i cant agree more with the negative comments about raves and the whole electronic music scene... Ecstasy makes people dumb, puts them in a fantasy world (not just while their "rolling") and makes them immature and selfish, while thinking its all OK because they are expressing themselves and who they want to be... If this were true, everyone wouldn't be whinny drama filled little self important idiots that don't care about anything but their high like the person next to them... I refuse to go to a rave or club, ill punch some one. I dont want to spend $40 to try and see one good artist at a rave just to be surrounded by people saying "omg im rollin soooo hard... who is this DJ anyways" You should go for the music, not the drugs...

Daniel Tosh once said "Come on why don't you wanna get high, oh... I don't know, cause I'm not in 7th grade anymore and Ive got shit to do. Why don't you grow up and do coke like an adult." This should be applied to little teens and immature young adults doing ecstasy too... grow up, just don't do coke. You aren't going to get a job in bright colors, your new wave hair cut, and candy bracelets from your wrists to elbows... you cant do that crap and expect to be part of the rest of the world. You wanna work at subway or mcdonalds the rest of your life, go for it... Chase that dragon...

Quote from: "nynone"
He showed how he dances lol jk. But seriously, who hear even knows much about the EDM scene? It may be fun to mock, but it's not at all about jail bait running around while rolling balls. Ever been to a real rave, with a real headlining DJ? Why make fun of it? I honestly just don't understand the joke.
Id like to state that all my comments come from going to raves and knowing the people... Btw, if you have been to a real rave lately, youd notice that ALL the people there want to do is make it about the jail bait running around while rolling balls... Illustrated above by my many situations of being at a rave where no one even knows anyone whos playing. Anymore the smaller setting is more of a tribute to the music... Real raves haven't been happening since the rave scene began in the 80s... in the UK... People who enjoy raves for the music and the experience are WAY to few and far between... The 95% of the people who ruin the scene are what make it a joke... And thats what makes trying to fight for it just as much of an equal joke. No offense to you, as i understand your not the normal part of the crowd... People have taken something that may have been great before your time, made it bigger, changed it, and ruined it...

Another great example of that is the recent attempts at woodstock. The original woodstock was about peace and love. The most recent one was plagued by fights and vandalism, with MTV officials and artists leaving the muddy expo like the last of the U.S. forces leaving the embassy in Siagon, almost EXACTLY the same....

Actually, they've been doing this for about 5 years.  People are just starting to notice again.

Haha, touche sir... I remember ordering from them 5 years ago you had at least more hope/chance of receiving a product. They at least had "stock" and were able to ship things to you, instead of saying they had it, and just taking your money...

Quote from: "BorderlandAirsoft"
This is why you should never preorder from evike because they don't actually know when they will be getting a shipment in. The just guesstimate so people will preorder and they can get your money.  :(

No, you shouldn't order anything from evike unless its a part and your really desperate... and you call to make sure it really is instock. I had two friends who, for some reason deeply rooted in retardation, tried to order from evike in Jan, and March both items were listed as instock. By feb the jan item was on pre-order and he was TOLD they had sold out quickly at the time of his order. His "preorder" delayed each successive month, and by mid april a refund was obtained. The item purchased in march had the same story however it kept being listed as in stock on the site until late april, a refund was obtained in mid may.

Far as i know these items have still not come in stock at all, and if they have, they were only sent to people who have been waiting since the first quarter of the year.

Easiest thing to do... DONT SUPPORT EVIKE AT ALL....

Quote from: "Raith"
It may be simplified a bit, and not to scale, but this is congruent with what I've picked up over the years of playing airsoft -

You don't really care where it is when the BB hits the ground, you care where you can put it reliably.  At some point, with certain guns and BB weights, you no longer get such a return from heavier BBs.

I cant really argue with that, thats a little bit better depiction of what i was trying to put into words. Noting that max distance and effective distance are different is, well something to take note of.... Its one of those things more easily observed by playing and testing different rounds over the years as you put it... Some of the stock chinese aegs seem to brake that model though and shoot .23s farther, thats the only thing ive noticed...

I have found good success in mixing BB weights myself.... Some players wouldn't prefer this as your shots are not consistent with your previous shots. However a .23/.25 mix while being inconsistent some times adds that variable of your 3 shot burst reaching out, or falling short and actually hitting your target in situations where you might have missed. Almost giving you a spread at distance like a shot gun... Something to play around with...

You might see that .23s can out range a .25 possibly, while the .25s will give you a tighter better group.... This is usually around the 300 fps limit though... with the FPS on your gun its probably not gonna end up that way, id say run .25s...
