General Off-Topic Discussion / Broncos or Chiefs?
« on: October 01, 2003, 06:41:10 PM »
Well...I figure we're all manly men here.

I'm going to be watching this, just because I think the Chiefs have a shot at going all the way this year.  Not only that, but I think that two teams that are 4-0 in the same division going head to head is pretty sweet.

I'm thinking Chiefs by 10.  I'm giving them that much just because Plummer's going to choke against a secondary like the Chiefs have.  With Clinton Portis hurt, I just don't think the Broncos have much of a chance. Really, if Plummer gets scared like he tends to, he'll start throwing bad, and KC is pretty darned good this year on the D side.  Not to mention I don't think that Denver can stop Priest Holmes or Tony Gonzalez.  It should be good to watch, but not pretty.

AEG's / What is this thing?
« on: September 30, 2003, 05:35:46 PM »
Hey, I was tightening up the pistol grip on my M4, and I happened to notice this little spring laying there. I had taken off the base plate for the grip, but the motor hadn't come out yet.  I had unhooked the wires.

It's a torsion spring, probably about 3/4 of an inch long, with two turns in the middle section.  Each end of the little spring bars are angled 90 degrees in opposite directions.

Any thoughts, or did it just happen to be laying there.

For anyone that knows, do the Guarder SOG style pouches hook up to PALS webbing?

AEG's / Someone might be interested in this...

For those of you who aren't familiar with this, it's a replica of the PRI SPR foregrip and front sight/barrel.  Very nice carbon fiber free-float handguard.
Armalite builds the rifle for these for the military.

Very cool.  Ironically it costs about the same as the real thing.

AEG's / KSC H&K 33
« on: September 15, 2003, 05:37:15 PM »
This is going to be sweet.

A former Marui engineer went to the Japanese airsoft manufacturers to see who wanted to build an AEG.  No one wanted to compete with Marui except KSC.

It's built like a Marui AEG, mostly plastic with some metal. The really cool thing is though, that you can use the gun even after the battery is dead by manually cocking it.  You also have to pull the charging handle when you put a new mag in to feed the first round.

So who wants one? I know I do...

Some of you may have seen this already, but I thought I'd run with the trend.

The Differential Theory of US Armed Forces
(Snake Model)

The Differential Theory of US Armed Forces (Snake Model) upon encountering a snake in the Area of Operations or A Diversified Approach to Military Operations:

Infantry: Snake smells them, leaves area.

Airborne: Lands on and kills the snake.

Armor: Runs over snake, laughs, and looks for more snakes.

Aviation: Has Global Positioning Satellite coordinates to snake. Can't find snake. Returns to base for refuel, crew rest and manicures.

Ranger: Plays with snake, then eats it.

Field Artillery: Kills snake with massive Time On Target barrage with three Forward Artillery Brigades in support. Kills several hundred civilians as unavoidable collateral damage. Mission is considered a success and all participants (i.e. cooks, mechanics and clerks) are awarded Silver Stars.

Special Forces: Makes contact with snake, ignores all State Department directives and Theater Commander Rules of Engagement by building rapport with snake and winning its heart and mind. Trains it to kill other snakes. Files enormous travel voucher upon return.

Combat Engineer: Studies snake. Prepares in-depth doctrinal thesis in obscure 5-series Field Manual about how to defeat snake using countermobility assets. Complains that maneuver forces don't understand how to properly conduct doctrinal counter-snake ops.

Navy SEAL: Expends all ammunition and calls for naval gunfire support in failed attempt to kill snake. Snake bites SEAL and retreats to safety. Hollywood makes fantasy film in which SEALs kill Muslim extremist snakes.

Navy: Fires off 50 cruise missiles from various types of ships, kills snake and makes presentation to Senate Appropriations Committee on how Naval forces are the most cost-effective means of anti-snake force projection.

Marine: Kills snake by accident while looking for souvenirs. Local civilians demand removal of all US forces from Area of Operations.

Marine Recon: Follows snake, gets lost.

Combat Controllers: Guides snake elsewhere.

Para-Rescue Jumper: Wounds snake in initial encounter, then works feverishly to save snake's life.

Supply: (NOTICE: Your anti-snake equipment is on backorder.)

Transport pilot: Receives call for anti-snake equipment, delivers two weeks after due date.

F-16 pilot: Finds snake, drops two CBU-87 cluster bombs, and misses target due to weather.

AH-64 Apache pilot: Unable to locate snake, snakes don't show well on infra-red.

UH-60 Blackhawk pilot: Finds snake on fourth pass after snake starts bonfire to mark Landing Zone. Rotor wash blows snake into the fire.

B-52 pilot: Pulls ARCLIGHT mission on snake, kills snake and every other living thing within two miles of target.

Missile crew: Lays in target coordinates to snake in 20 seconds, but can't receive authorization from National Command Authority to use nuclear weapons.

Intelligence officer: Snake? What snake? Only 4 of 35 indicators of snake activity are currently active. We assess the potential for snake activity as LOW.

Judge Advocate General (JAG): Snake declines to bite, citing grounds of professional courtesy.

CH-47 Pilot: Slingleg breaks in flight while slingloading anti-snake equiptment, pilot cuts slingload. Slingload lands on snake and kills it. Crew cheif uses dead snake to replace broken slingleg.

Navy Pilot: Draped snake around neck at Tail Hook to pick up chicks.

Military Police: Gave snake a sobriety test for not moving in a straight line.

Signal: Broadcasts 200,000+ watt transmissions in support of anti-snake missions, accidentally electrocuted snake in the process.

Corps of Engineers: Surveyed and researched area for plans on improving flood plain, cant do it because snake is on the endangered species list.

Cooks: Snake sneaks in chow hall. Snake dies of food poisoning.

Gas Powered Guns / Thinking of words that could make a sailor cry...
« on: September 08, 2003, 10:04:22 PM »
So I casually pulled the box containing the sorry remains of my WA SV Infinity out of the closet, thinking I'd figure out which parts I needed and would order them.

That was almost 3 hours ago, and I'm no closer to having this <expletive deleted> <expletive deleted> back together.

Anyone have experience assembling WA 1911s?  This is a single stack, so consider that first.

It's the stupid sear, disconnector, and sear spring that are messing me up.  How do these thigns fit back together.

(actually, real 1911 experience would be helpful, it's very similar internally.)

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / WA Single Stack mags
« on: August 27, 2003, 12:17:28 AM »
I've got a pair of WA mags for single stack 1911's.

These will fit any of the WA Colts (Series 70/80, Gov't Model, etc.) or any single stack Infinity (IED, etc.) They'll also fit single stack Wilsons.

I'll let them go at a significantly reduced price.

$35 each.

This is just so funny to me.

I'll go with the obvious joke:

"Is that an MP5 in your pants?"

General Airsoft Discussion / Orders
« on: August 19, 2003, 02:51:15 PM »
For all of you who have been putting requests through to Mongoose (Nick and myself) I just wanted to give you the heads up that I'll be offline for at least a few days here.  I'm moving and don't yet have access to the 'net at my new place.

So you can go ahead and send your requests if you want, but it's up in the air as to when I can get to them.

Anyone who I already have your items (the last order) needs to contact me if I haven't talked to you already.

Picked these up for a nice deal off of Ebay.
Oakley Assault A-Frames, mine have the matte green frame and clear lenses.

They're really nice. They fit extremely well, and peripheral vision is amazing.
I hope I've finally found a goggle that doesn't fog up...

Gas Powered Guns / Time to play Mossad.
« on: July 25, 2003, 11:39:31 PM »
I just find this so rad...

http://www.wa-gunnet.co.jp/english/cool/wa-btan.html

There are a couple of really nice things about this.

6.03 barrel stock, decent weight, new version of the Magna system, new hammer system.

The coolest thing of all though is that this gun was made with the support of the Beretta company.  For those who don't know, WA actually has worldwide licensing rights for Beretta (and I believe SV as well. Para-Ordnance is only Japan though.)

I'm psyched...

(The title, for those who are curious, comes from the Mossad kidon (assassin) teams being big fans of the little Berettas. I think Berettas were exclusively responsible for the sudden ends of the Munich games terrorists.)

Gas Powered Guns / KJW and Marui M9's
« on: June 30, 2003, 08:57:41 PM »
Hey there,

For those that own one (or both?) is anyone aware of the potential for barrel swaps between the Marui and KJW M9's?

It is my understanding that the KJW model is a ripoff of the Marui, and that some parts are interchangeable.

Thanks,
Bart

Mosquito Molds has a nifty little launcher under development to mount onto rails.

What freaks me out is that the demo model pictured is loaded with a 175 round shell...

2.    Ninjas fight ALL the time.
3.    The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.
