Well I may have payed less, not quite sure on the number but either way I got fucked... hey at the time it was better than most of the gear we have down here in Tucson (no offence to my buddies down here, but sometimes the truth hurts). Plus i'm not willing to spend more money on other rigs that could do the same task my Eagle plate carrier does. And let me tell you, even though i'm sure you don't care vince, it doesn't look half bad.

Nah, man, I just feel bad, that's like way a lot to have paid. And, while I do care, I do know, I think if you hashed out the 'good gear' people like, Eagle Plate Carrier is up there in frequency. I know like four or five people who have them.

Yeah, Sinjin's the first person I saw wearing one and I thought "must buy with no regard to cost." I haven't been out airsofting with Sin (or anyone for that matter) in a while. Has he changed his setup any?

He moved.

He still has the same rig though.

Man, you're shitting me. I can't believe I missed this. Did he move back east or something? Sin was the first person I paired up with during my first airsoft game and I didn't even get to say goodbye... lame.

The Eagle LE Armor Carrier is a non-releaseable Maritime "CIRAS".  Beyond the lack of a release mechanism, the LE Carrier also has increased Velcro area for cool guy / Police patches, at the expense of 1 or 2 rows of PALS webbing at the top.

Eagle is apparently going to produce a non-releasable armor carrier that will have the same amount of PALS webbing that the 'real' CIRAS has.

Stupid question ahead, beware!  You all know that i've been a bit out of the commercially-available gear realm for the past few months, having only dealt with issued kit.

My question is this:
What's the deal with the Blackhawk releaseable kits like the OTV replacement and the plate carrier?  Are they a ripoff or a new design?  Do they blow?

I try to keep up with whats new, but I have not heard/read too much about the new BPG stuff.  As far as I can tell, their new plate carrier is like a releasable RRV (or their copy of it) with a back panel.

Don't really know anything about the other two items.

I've got one of the releasable vests.  I did a write up on it on LF, the link to which is here.  When I did the initial review, I didn't have any BALCS armor available (I got the Cutaway version, not the one they make for use with the Interceptor).  I'll grab that again and stuff the BALCS amor into it to see how it works out.

Summary:  Decent value for a releasable vest. If you don't need that feature, you're better off with an Eagle LE Armor Carrier or similar, IMO.

However, since you're asking about the OTV version, I'd say that you're likely better off with the SPARTAN II.  Though sold by TAG, the carriers are sewn by Eagle for them.  They've made the SPARTAN II a releasable system, from all I've read, BUT I COULD BE WRONG.  Cost for the SPARTAN II isn't that much different from the BPG version.

Well I need a new cover for Interceptor panels that is adjustable at the shoulders and has an inner cummerbund.  The DBT IBA cover is out of stock.

Compatability with the point blank groin, throat and neck pro is a plus.  Also has to come in Universal pattern.

Anything like that commercially available?

Yes, the Spartan II.  It's made as an OTV replacement cover.  AFAIK, they make in UCP.  If not, then the only one I am aware of is the BPG one.
