I'd think a V3 gearbox would be best:  the one used in the AUG and AK.  A v1 might be the best fit, but it's going to be VERY difficult to find one, and then find parts for it.

A v6 gearbox won't work because there is no gearbox.  It's the one the UZI uses and the actual peices of the frame of the UZI are what house the internals.

Ahh, thx, im his friend that will also be working on it, but i dont think a v3 will fit, in the AUG the back end drops even with the pistol grip which allows the motor to fit in the back, so i think the only gearbox that will fit is the v1. Well, lets hope we can find it.

Actually, Paco, v6 is the Thompson/P90 gearbox. I would recommend the v6 because it's all one thing, and that makes it alot easier to adapt it, because you won't have to fit the grip with a motor.

I thought the v6 was the p90, well, we arnt planning to put anything in the pistol grip due to the mag being in the back, so the gearbox will go in the rear of the gun, allowing for a very long barrel in a shorter gun.

It's called bullpup<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> The Uzi uses a V5 gearbox. Cyphen is right, the V6 is used in the P90, P90 TR, and the Thompson M1A1.

Now what was that you were saying?...<img src="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/tank.gif" border=0><img src="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/2M16.gif" border=0>

Thanks for your guys' help. We posted an add for a v1 or 6 gearbox in the classifieds. Whichever we find first, I guess, is what we will use. We figured out that the L85 at the Den Trinity Shop uses a v1. So, we figured we'd go for both. If you could help any further by looking for a good quality and cheap box, that would be great. Thanks again.

Personally, I would get the Academy L85 and use FAMAS parts for the internals.  I have seen the Academy guns and they are not total crap, just a little plasticky.

No, see, we want to mod it, thats the point, instead of buying an AEG version.

A friend and I are going to buy a L85A1 spring rifle and convert it to an AEG. We are trying to decide between a V.1 gearbox and a V.6 box. Does anybody have any suggestions on which box we should use or any other suggestions on how to complete this project???
