Hey everyone, just posting because eventually people are going to notice my signature and question the actual brightness of my rail-mounted "tac light". Yes, it is a true 3,800 Luminen light. It is manufactured (don't be fooled) and distributed out of China, so expect a little longer shipping time if you order one. They (TrustFire) come in different sizes and power outputs, all with rechargeable battery cells (I think most models accept 123A's, but I wouldn't trust the runtime on those batteries.) I myself have the 3,800L mounted on my Echo1 614 (for when I feel like seeing daylight when it's total darkness, or someone just needs to be blinded...) and I also carry one at work, along with it's baby brother- the smaller-framed 1,000L model. Along with the other guys I work with, there's a bunch of Glendale/Phoenix PD buddies of mine that now have their whole squads carrying these as their primary lights... One PPD Sgt was even seen with the model rated around 5,000L which literally will turn night into day.

Anyway, if anyone wants to check these out click the link (Amazon.com) below and see for yourself. For the price, you'll regret buying your last MagLite/Surefire/5.11 flashlight for certain.

Enjoy, everyone!

Right up to the point where the electronics fail just like they've failed on every single one of the China knockoff flashlights I've owned.  All 8 of them.  I'd use them for airsoft without hesitation, but I sure as hell wouldn't use them as a duty light.

Understandable, although in the past eight months none of mine have failed after been through a hell of a beating (tossed around, dropped, extensive use, etc) and haven't heard of them breaking or failing on anyone else I know that uses them as of yet.

None of that would have any effect on the electronics unless they were made so poorly a connection got knocked loose because it wasn't soldered properly.

Right, that's what I'm saying. None of that daily wear and tear has had any affect on mine. Not here to really argue this, and that's where I feel this may be going. Just thought I'd point out a bright as f*ck light series that's a great bang for the buck which I figured a lot of guys on here may appreciate.

And you'll note I said I'd use them for airsoft.  But you included the bit about the PD guys and I'm just saying I would recommend against it.  There's no shortage of Chinese knock off lights these days.  They are all using the same Cree LED bulbs as the good stuff which is great.  The casing and reflector is typically of reasonably similar quality as well.  The electronics is where they totally cheap out and half ass it.  If it stops functioning during an airsoft match, no big deal.  It's $20, I'll buy another one.  But if it goes out while you were clearing a house or chasing somebody down, it could mean your safety or even life.  Spending an extra $80 doesn't sound so bad any more does it?

Not trying to discourage you posting your thoughts on products or even their usage in airsoft.  But once you start endorsing them for possibly life or death situations?  Personally I hold things to a much stricter standard at that point.  I'll stick with my established brands at that point.

Oh yeah okay I get what you're saying and to that I agree. Yeah I mean honestly, I haven't cleared a room with one (outside of airsoft). That's what my TLR-1 below my XD40 is for. :) I do however carry the 1,000L TrustFire model on my carrier at work, but again it's for observations only.

Airsoft replica lights never hold up to the recoil of RS in my experience. This makes them useless for long term use in airsoft or other demanding environments where impacts can and do happen.

I've never regretted buying real surefire/steamlight flashlights. I've had a lot of failed chinese flashlights over the years. If I don't have to rely on it, or its a backup of a backup or if its my throw away distraction light, or if its just for looks, then chinese is fine.

Then again, there is much cheaper out there if you want chinese lights.

Been testing a surefire knock off of the m951 so far I've put a little over 1000 rounds of federal  xm193 5.56  and about 200 rounds of federal xm80c .308 with no malfunctions. Planing on running another 800+ rounds of .308  and this weekend I'm going to try it on my shotgun. That said most of your Chinese knock off's are shit. Them again China does have capability of making good products. Both starrett and mititoyu ( high end aerospace tools) are now made in China yet still have the same quality as when they were made in the US and Japan.
