My M4 Magazines
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:45:15 AM »
Just got my M4 last night and found that 5 out of my 8 Mags won't fit. When I look into the receiver it looks like they are about 3mm too high to "click" into the receiver catch.  It seems like I could take a file an file down some of the plastic on the top each mag in order to get them to seat. Would this be a good idea, or simply my fool's errand?

What I would do is take a mag that doesn't click into place, hold it in the magwell and see if it works properly with you holding it. If it does, then I would just make the small square hole in the side of the magazine slightly taller to mesh with the mag catch, rather than mess with the top of a working mag. Less things to go wrong that way I would think. Just do it carefully and slowly, cause if you make the hole too tall, the mag will be loose and may not feed properly.

Okay, what tool do you think I should use to make the mag catch taller? They are all metal.

a cnc machine only. No you can use a small file, Dremel if you handy with it. Or if you are a real craftsman you could even use a chisel.
bet you mofo's wish your sig could do this. haha

Just take the screw out of the bottom of the mag, pull the guts up out the top, then use a file on the hole.

Ah! This sounds much easier.

Thanks for the tips, guys. All my mags work great, and it took me all but 60 seconds per mag. I'm a happy non-camper (campers are lame).
