Achtisson Assault Shotgun/AA-12 Blueprints and ideas
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:14:53 PM »

I've recently been thinking about designs of an AA-12 airsoft shotgun. It would be GBB. Shotgun shells act like smaller airsoft grenades (several holes for BB's gas loaded into shell). Becuase of this, the magazine would simply act as a carrying case for Shells (that you load into the gun). Once the trigger is pulled, the BB's are ejected from the shell, and the empty shell is pushed out of the gun (see this video for demonstration of similar idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBjWV5bFxbw&feature=player_embedded).

The overall length would be 966mm, barrel length: 457mm

Features M4 style sights and M16 style fixed stock.

Here are some more specs so you might take me seriously.

Shell width: 18.5mm
Shell capacity: 12 6mm BBs
Barrel diameter: 19mm
High quality plastic body
360 RPM

What do you guys think?

Correction, it's a fully automatic grenade launcher.

Calrence Lai (The Airsoft Surgeon) built a shotgun platform that fired self contained, gas shotgun shells. You would probably find this article interesting...

Here is a video; really neat looking toy.

I might have to contact him to see if he would be willing to build it.

Edit: just realized the airsoft surgeon doesn't make guns, he modifies them.

I say if you think you can build it, why not? Due to the ejecting shells, it might not be very good to use in an actual battle, but it'd be cool as hell to show off to all your friends, especially since you built it yourself X).

If your definition of fun is combing the field after every game looking for shotgun shells or parts of them.

Show me your blueprints in solidworks and then I may think you are serious.

Why isn't pen and paper enough? Must everything be done digitally in todays world?

I'm not an old man (I'm 14), but computers have taken over EVERYTHING. And besides, that 3d software is too expensive for me.

Because right now all you have is a poorly drawn, largely illegible sketch of an AA-12 and no visible clue how to proceed from there.  A Solidworks blueprint shows you actually have the slightest clue what you are doing.  Until then, we will add this to the infinitely large piles of "ideas" that never even get off the ground.

You can download google sketchup for free. http://sketchup.google.com/

I put a lot of pencil and paper to the designs I do, but as an engineer I get passed over again and again because I am not experienced enough in 3D modeling. Learn it now, get used to thinking in terms of it, it is the only serious way to be a designer.

Solidworks, Catia, Autodesk, lots of great 3D modeling software. And it's getting easier and easier to use.

Like Ganef said, it's important if you ever want to be taken seriously. Those 'sketches', which is even a stretch by that term, mean absolutely squat. Couldn' even take the time to scan in your bar-napkin idea and took a picture of you holding it up instead? lol. That's nowhere near a "blueprint".

if you really don't know how to use a computer, i mean...don't want to use rendering software, try your hand at drafting on paper the right way...

i had some elective class on drafting/CAD back in school, from what i remember both aren't exactly rocket science, even though you're only 12 i'm sure you could figure it out

Okay, I'm downloading SketchUp Pro. I know that piece of paper wasn't really good, and all I can do is take a picture of it because I'm on vacation and can't use my scanner.

You people need to work on how you criticize people, the way I read your posts sounds like your insulting me.
