Finally time to ditch that crappy 8.4v battery.....
« on: November 08, 2011, 11:31:47 PM »
Hey ya'll. I'm not new to forums, but I'm new to this forum. And with my first post I'll be proposing to you all a question. I have tried the search bar, but I can't really narrow my search down enough.... (in before "use the search bar")

So..... Like the title says. I'm finally getting rid of the 8.4v that came with my CYMA 041 mp-5. Then gun shoots hot at a consistent 385, but the ROF has been getting progressively worse.

I'm planning on buying a 9.6v Ni-MH battery, but I'm not sure on brand or MaH. I was looking at a 3300Mah G&P and a 3000Mah Firefox, both the same price, so should I go with the higher Mah?

I'm also open to the thought of a Li-po, but I already have a smart charger. So if you would recommend a Li-po, convince me it's better.

Thank you all!  8)

You are about to get a lot of telltale on that. I use 7.4 lipos in my m4's and run all day long with no problems. Higher rate of fire, they are awesome!

Heh that's what I'm hoping for. And for budget I guess I'd like to stay around $40 or under, but I'd be willing to spend $50.

Also, size is not an issue. I have my battery zip-tied to my side-folding stock and wrapped in black canvas.

Take your pick.

That same site also sells the chargers you need for them and they will will solder on the connector of your choice (deans, tamiya, etc.)

I would just stick with regular batterys if i was you, Lipos tend to drain your pockets ahhah.
A good 9.6 3300 or 4200 should work out great for you.

The higher the Miliamps per hour, Or "Mah" the longer the battery will last. A good saying i was told about 7 years ago was Just think of it as 1 Mah as One shot. Its not extreamly accurate but its a good thing to remember.

And, I allways found tenergy batterys to be eligable for the garbage can right out of packaging, I personally stay away from them at all costs.

Is your friend gonna help you with the connectors? That 4mm bullet connector might be normal for RC stuff, but you're not likely to find any airsoft guns with it.

You'll be happy. :D

I've swapped everything over to Deans & Li-pos, even my AEP (w/mini Deans).  Couldn't ask for anything better, really.

Whoah I hope that's exaggeration, otherwise something else might need fixing on your gun.

If you are concerned with ROF and trigger response, look into getting a MOSFET.

Somewhat of an exaggeration..... That's with the wimpy 8.4v it came with. And I believe the gun has an M120 spring from the factory. I do think there might be a chance I need to redo the wiring, but I'll figure that out when I get the gun apart.

Since I'm living in the dorms at UA I can't store my guns here. From now on I'm gunna keep em at my friends' apartment.
